“…Rabbi evzı’nī an ashkura…” dua for what?
Du’a (Supplication) is a servant’s acknowledgement of their powerlessness before the majesty and sublimity of Allah, coupled with seeking His blessings and assistance through feelings of love and reverence. The word du’a carries meanings such as “to call,” “to invoke,” “to desire,” and “to seek help,” primarily signifying a request or supplication from the lesser to the greater. Making du’a is praised and encouraged in verses and hadith. “Fear Allah and supplicate to Him.” (Al-A’raf, 7:56) “There is nothing more honorable before Allah than supplication.” (Tirmidhi, Duawāt, 1; Ibn Majah, Dua, 1)

Surah Al-Ahqaf, Verse 15
Recitation: “…Rabbi evzı’nī an ashkura ni‘matakallatī an‘amta aleyye wa ‘alā wālidayy wa an a‘mala sāliḥan tardhāhu wa aslıḥ lī fī ẓurriyya, innī tabaẗu ileyka wa innī min al-muslimīn.”
Meaning: “…My Lord, grant me the ability to be grateful for the blessing You have bestowed upon me and my parents, and to perform righteous deeds that You will approve of. And make things good for me in my offspring. Indeed, I turn to You and indeed I am among the Muslims.”
