What does “Rabbena tekabbel minna…” mean?
Du’a (Supplication) is a servant acknowledging their powerlessness before the majesty of Allah, requesting His grace and assistance with feelings of love and reverence. The word “du’a” encompasses meanings such as calling, invoking, desiring, and seeking help. It generally expresses a request made from a lower position to a higher one. Making du’a is praised and encouraged in the Quran and Hadith. Expressions like “Fear Him and hope for His mercy; to Him alone you should turn in all devotion.” (Al-A’raf, 7/56) and “There is nothing more precious with Allah than supplication.” (Tirmidhi, Du’awat, 1; Ibn Majah, Dua, 1) support this matter.
