Why Prayers Are Not Being Answered?

To Ibrahim bin Adham (may Allah be pleased with him):

When asked, “Why are our prayers not being accepted?”, he responded:

REASONS WHY PRAYERS ARE NOT ACCEPTED

“They are not accepted because:

1. You know Allah, but you do not obey His commands. (Quran: Surah Al-An’am, verse 153)
2. You know the Prophet (peace be upon him), but you do not follow his Sunnah. (Hadith: Tirmidhi, Menakib, 27)
3. You recite the Quran, but you do not act according to it. (Quran: Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 159)
4. You consume Allah’s blessings, but you do not give thanks. (Hadith: Bukhari, Adab, 30)
5. You know about Paradise, but you do not strive to attain it. (Quran: Surah Az-Zumar, verse 40)
6. You speak of Hell, but you do not fear it as you should. (Hadith: Tirmidhi, Qiyamah, 26)
7. You mention death, but you do not prepare for it. (Quran: Surah Al-Anbiya, verse 35)
8. You bury your deceased with your own hands, but you do not take a lesson from it.

How can your prayers be accepted with so much wrongdoing?”
