What Prayer to Recite at Year’s End?

At the end of each year, we deepen our supplications, seeking refuge in Allah from past sins and wishing for a new beginning. Mahmud Sami Ramazanoğlu (may Allah be pleased with him) transmitted the prayer to be recited at year’s end in his book “Prayers and Dhikr.” This prayer reflects the refinement of our language and has a purifying effect on our hearts.

Meaning:

“In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

May Allah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), his family, and his companions!

O Allah, forgive me for what I have done this year of that which You forbade, and with which I did not feel remorse, and which You are displeased with; the sins that I forgot but You have not forgotten; for which You had the power to punish me but showed forbearance; and after daring to disobey You, You invited me to repentance. Forgive me! O Most Noble Allah, O Lord of Majesty and Generosity, accept from me the deeds I performed this year for which You promised reward. Do not cut off my hope from You, O Most Noble One!

May Allah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), his family, and his companions!”
