The Dua to Recite After Every Prayer
In this section, we will examine an important supplication (dua) that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught to Hz. Muaz (may Allah be pleased with him), advised him to recite continuously, and which is recited after every prayer.
According to a narration from Mu’adh ibn Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him), the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) took Mu’adh’s hand and said:
“O Mu’adh, I swear by Allah that I truly love you. And then, O Mu’adh, I advise you to never cease reciting the following supplication after every prayer: ‘O Allah! Help me to remember You, give thanks to You, and worship You in the best way!’ (Abu Dawud, Witir 26; Nasa’i, Sahh 60. See also Tirmidhi, Zuhd 30)

- How Should We Understand This Hadith?
We see that the Prophet (peace be upon him) practiced what he advised. The beloved Messenger of Allah, holding his beloved companion Mu’adh ibn Jabal’s hand with sincerity and swearing an oath, declares the love in his blessed heart with “I truly love you.” This love and favor is worth more than worlds to Mu’adh.
Another aspect of the Prophet’s behavior is evident in this hadith. Holding hands, addressing him by name, and swearing his love, like a warm and sincere friendship environment, he addresses Mu’adh again by name saying “And I also advise you”, teaching him a supplication. The Messenger of Allah, the physician of hearts, shows with this behavior the importance of presenting advice in a loving style and a sincere atmosphere.
