Why Prayers Are Not Accepted? Explanation by Ja’far al-Sadiq
The response given by His Excellency Ja’far al-Sadiq to a person who asked, “What has befallen us that we make supplication but our supplications are not accepted?”
Ja’far al-Sadiq was asked:
“‒What has befallen us that we make supplication but our supplications are not accepted?”. He replied:
“‒Because you supplicate to a Being Whom you do not know!”
Meaning, you
- remain distant from an acceptable servitude,
- do not possess taqwa (God-consciousness),
- do not adhere to our Lord’s command of “remembering Him often”,
- do not recognize Him with the due reverence through your condition and lifestyle,
- do not attain knowledge of Allah. Because you supplicate with such an empty heart, your supplication is not accepted…
