The Slavery of the Self and Attaining Truth
As a person becomes enslaved to their self, they may not be able to see the right path. Acting according to personal desires and being captivated by worldly ambitions can blind the heart and make it difficult to understand truth. As Geylani emphasizes, in order to follow the Right Path, the self must be disciplined, one must possess good manners and humility. Worship is not merely performing rituals, but also purifying the heart and strengthening the bond with Allah. One should avoid acting ignorantly and have the ability to distinguish between good and evil. To deepen spirituality, one should turn to mosques, send blessings upon the Prophet, which strengthens the heart and protects it from calamity.
Sincerity, Reflection, and Following in the Footsteps of Truth
In today’s world, hypocrisy has become widespread, and sincerity has diminished. People have begun to worship for show, and the desire to seek truth has been replaced by a desire to display it. Geylani’s advice reminds us that knowledge without action is useless, the importance of reflection, and the necessity of considering Allah’s pleasure. A moment of good thought is better than prolonged empty worship. To keep the heart alive, one must repent, turn away from their mistakes, and implore Allah. While seeking truth, one must be patient, submit to the decrees of fate, and be grateful for Allah’s existence. We must not forget that this worldly life is transient, and true salvation is possible only by turning towards the afterlife.
