Do you not know that it is shameful to be afraid of speaking? It is painful when today is good but tomorrow turns bad. Our Prophet says: «He who makes the two days equal is in loss.» How is this situation described? How can one compensate for the loss of a good past day and a bad future day? O my child! If there is something you need, try to find it. If something does not come to you, strive to obtain it. Allah helps those who work. Work in this sea. The waves may strike to the right and to the left, but one day they will cast you safely onto the shore. If you pray, He will answer. If you work, He will grant you success. Even if you forget your share and run away, He will have mercy on you and come running to you. Let your search be sincere; He will show you the door of closeness.

Run towards Him; if you fall, His hand of mercy will catch you. The hand of mercy, grace, generosity, and love of the Master stretches out to you with eagerness. This is among the great ranks. Those who are on the path of Allah strive to attain this. I no longer want you. You have become the slave of your ego and natural desires. You have become a worshipper of the desires of your ego and the devilish feelings. I am alone with the Truth. The Truth is self within self, pure within pure. In Him, separation from the people and reaching the Truth exists. I cannot accept your desires; O people with corrupted hearts. Your outside and inside do not agree with each other. O preachers and liars, I no longer hesitate to speak about your faces. How can I be ashamed and afraid of you?

Because you have become shameless before your Lord. You attribute evil to Him. You follow the path of betrayal to your Lord according to your own understanding. You do not take the proper conduct towards His faithful angels. I have the sword of truth with me. With it, I will cut off the heads of every disbeliever and hypocrite. Especially the liars, they cannot escape from my strike. They know neither repentance nor the way of secrecy to return to their Lord. Is it not fitting for them to seek forgiveness and take the path of repentance, yet they do not do it? Some great ones say: – Truth is the sword of Allah on earth. Whatever it falls upon, it cuts it off. Accept my words and turn to me with sincerity. I am giving you advice. I wish for your good. I am considered dead for your sake.

My revival is the Truth. Whoever affirms me will be reformed. Whoever benefits from my conversation will be saved. Whoever does not affirm me will be led astray. Whoever does not continue my conversation will be struck with severe punishments in this world and the hereafter. One who is not knowledgeable in the path of knowledge cannot understand my conversation. Among the causes that lead to the path of knowledge is to stop struggling against the Truth. Whoever does not object to Him is considered a person of knowledge. Whoever conforms to His deeds has attained the secrets of knowledge. For this reason, Malik bin Dinar says to some of his students: If you desire to be a person of knowledge with the Master, obey His decree, His judgment, and His fate. Do not try to equate your ego, personal desires, and will with Him. O people whose lives are intact, your affairs are entirely scattered. What have you not lost before your Lord?

If your hearts knew what they had lost, your longing would increase. You would be ashamed of what you have done. Be alert. *

O community! You will soon be among the dead. People will weep for you. Before they begin to weep, let your eyes shed tears. You have many faults. No one knows how far these faults will extend. Your hearts are sick with the love of this world. The desire for this world has wrapped your hearts. Take this world away from your hearts and purify them. Leave the world and turn to the Truth. The safety of religion is your capital. Good deeds are its profit. Do not seek what will bring you down. Find what is sufficient for you. A person with a sound mind cannot find ease in worldly matters. The account of what comes from a lawful path exists; the punishment of what comes from an unlawful path will befall. Most of you have forgotten to account and to suffer punishment. * O my child!

Do not take the worldly life that wrinkles your heart. But what can we say, your mind has gone. Every part of you has become a model of evil, your ego. You are filled with natural desires and passions. Sit with the owners of hearts. Be close to wise and mature elders. They are needed for you. Seek out the one who acts according to the decree of Allah. He will teach you training. He will give you knowledge. He will give you advice. O poor one who sells everything without receiving anything in return. The one who gives everything and receives nothing. You have taken the world as a reward for the hereafter. You have given the hereafter and found the world. You are filled with desire. You have been buried in poverty. Ignorance has covered all your sides. You eat like animals. You do not search, you do not ask; it does not occur to you to account.

You have become insincere. You do not know the command. You do not hold the matter as a believer would. A believer performs the command of religion; the servant of the Master adds to it the divine and spiritual command. He listens to the prohibition that comes from the heart. He joins the existence of the Truth to his own existence. He does not exert effort for any matter. The deeds of the Truth are manifested in him. He is with his Lord in this condition. The divine command covers all sides of the servant of the Master. His standing is with it. The one who has become separated from existence does not have the power to choose anything. Whatever state comes to the servant, he must perform the essentials of Islam. The one who has fallen into a bad state is spared by the Master. Then he is thrown into the sea of power. The waves of the sea of power sometimes hide people, sometimes reveal them. Sometimes they cast them onto the shore, sometimes they leave them in the middle of the waves. Some of them are like the Companions of the Cave. Allah, the Most High, said about the Companions of the Cave: – «We sometimes turn them to the right and sometimes to the left.» (Kehf/18) The one who has fallen into a bad state cannot have the rule of reason. They have no concern with caution and feeling; they sit in the house of grace and seek refuge in the nest of closeness. When they come before the Truth, they close their inner and outer eyes. This is done by the Truth. The one who protects their eyes from the waves is the Master. For this reason, they look only at the Master and hear from Him. O my God, remove us from existence and non-existence. Make us find everything with You. «Do good in this world and do good in the hereafter.

Protect us from the punishment of fire.» (Bakara/201) Amin!

23. SPEECH – REMOVING THE RUST FROM HEARTS This speech was made in the morning of Friday in the madrasa. Date of the speech: 12 Zilhicce 545 (1150 AD). In this speech, the following topics were discussed: What are the coatings that cause the hearts to rust? Why do hearts become dark? How should true attachment to the Messenger of Allah be? Is repentance done only with the tongue sufficient, what are the characteristics of true repentance? How can food and drink be purified from the fears of unlawful and doubtful matters? The topics were discussed. Our Messenger (S.A.) said: – «These hearts rust. Their coating is reading the Qur’an, thinking about death, and being present at the gatherings of remembrance.» When the heart rusts, its owner understands, and if he tries to remove it, he can do so. Otherwise, it becomes very dark.

If the shape commanded by the Messenger of Allah is not followed, the heart rusts badly and it becomes impossible to remove this rust. There are many things that cause the heart to darken. It darkens because it is distant from the light of faith. It darkens because it loves this world. Whoever does not guard against this world, surely darkens his heart. If a person is captured by this world, his heart darkens. The feeling of guarding also dies. He does not say unlawful or lawful, and starts to collect wealth. When collecting wealth, he does not pay attention to whether it is lawful or unlawful, and the feeling of shame also dies. And he becomes deprived of the state of contemplation. * O community! Listen to your Messenger. Let his words strike your hearts with a cure. He has informed you of the cure for your heart’s rust.

If one of you were sick, and the doctor recommended medicine, could he find healing without using it? No. As long as he does not use the medicine, his illness does not decrease, perhaps it increases. Know Allah as close to you, both in secret and in the open. Hold Him as your target. See Him as if you see Him. Even if you do not see Him, He sees you. True remembrance of Allah is done with the heart. Whoever remembers Allah with his heart has remembered Him. Whoever remembers Allah only with his tongue is not considered to have remembered Him. The tongue is the child of the heart; the child obeys the mother. Continue in the places where advice is given. The heart becomes blind when it stops listening to advice. The true meaning of repentance is to consider the Truth superior and to respect it. For this reason, some great ones say: – Yes, it is based on two words: knowing the command of Allah as noble and showing compassion to His servants.

One who does not know the command of Allah cannot have compassion for the created beings. He cannot be close to Allah; he cannot receive a share of His mercy. Allah, the Most High, revealed to Prophet Musa (A.S.): – «O Musa, have compassion so that I may look upon you with mercy. I will pour my mercy upon those who have compassion. I will place them in Paradise. May blessings be upon those who carry the feeling of mercy in their hearts.»

Your entire life has rotted. You have ended your life with words like «We ate, we ate; we wore, we wore; we collected, they collected.» The one who seeks the path of salvation, take the unlawful things from your ego. Leave doubtful things. Do not carry the feelings of desire in your heart. Make your ego patient in order to fulfill the command of Allah. Stay away from prohibitions. Submit to the decrees of fate. The faithful travelers on the path of Allah have become accustomed to patience with Allah. They cannot remain away from Him. They have endured for His sake and in His presence. They have resisted all kinds of difficulties in order to be with Him. They have longed for closeness to Him. They have left the shelter of their egos. They have cast aside their desires and natural wishes. They belong to the religion of Islam; they arrive with the Master through Him.

On their path, they face calamities, misfortunes, grief, sorrow, hunger, thirst, nakedness, and every kind of poverty. Yet they walk on without giving any of these any importance. It is impossible for them to turn back from their path. They cannot change their condition. They are pioneers. Their path is not broken. Until they find the safety of the heart and the soul, their journey continues… they go on… they go on… O community! Know that you will meet the Almighty Allah. Do your affairs according to Him. Have the feeling of shame before Him before you face Him. A believer first feels shame before Allah, then before His servants. Otherwise, he is not considered to have entered the religion, his faith is not complete. His faith exceeds the measure. It is not fitting for a believer to be shameless. Both feeling shame and fulfilling the essentials of the religion are necessary.

It is the duty of every believer to not neglect the essentials of the religion. Every command must be fulfilled. Let your feeling of compassion not prevent you from the path of Allah. The one who follows the Messenger (S.A.) puts on his armor, takes all his beauty, puts on his silver bracelet, and takes his sword. He feels both firmness and tenderness. He takes all his beauty from the habits of the Messenger (S.A.). He is adorned with his good manners. By doing these things, he feels joy in his soul. The one who finds these states in his soul becomes a complete follower of the Messenger. He becomes his representative. He invites to the door of the Truth. When the time comes and he dies, another will take his place. This kind of community is very few. One in a thousand. It is not easy to call the servants to the Truth and to endure their suffering.

This difficult task is done by the great ones. They endure all kinds of suffering and hardship from the servants. They smile at the hypocrites from the outside to bring them to the path. The wicked people smile at them, play with them, and deceive them. Whatever the servants do to them, they endure it. All their intentions are to bring them to the door of the Truth. As the great ones say, only the travelers on the path of Allah show a friendly face to the corrupt ones. The person of knowledge smiles at the wicked person. The wicked person thinks that no one knows his inner self. However, the one who is knowledgeable knows the darkness within him. He understands the darkness of the heart and the multitude of his deceitful deeds. The hypocrites and the wicked think that their deeds remain hidden and they are mistaken. As if no one knows their corruption.

This condition greatly deceives them. They have no hidden state against the sages. The wicked and the hypocrite show all their states. Their hands, their skin, and their gaze reveal them. It is easy to sense what they are, both inside and outside, in their behavior and movements. Woe to you, you think that you will hide your affairs from the travelers on the path of Allah. Until when will you waste your life in vain? Seek someone who will lead you to the good doors of the other world. O people unaware of the other world, come to your senses. Allah is great. Know His greatness and conduct your affairs according to Him. O people whose hearts are dead… and O people who accept the causes as divine and O people who worship the servants and the holders of power around them, what state will you be in?

Those who worship the chieftains and the rulers of the regions, think about your end. They know nothing;

leave them and turn to Allah. Those who do not know the profit and loss from Allah cannot serve Him. Whoever sees something from anyone, he is their servant. If you see something from Allah, you become His servant. The one without faith is now in the fire of hardship and poverty. Tomorrow he will enter the punishment of hell. Only those who avoid sin and are sincere in their monotheism will be saved from the punishment of hell. Those who repent will attain safety. First, repent with your heart, then with your tongue. Repentance is a power. It is counted as the heart of every good deed. It has its own power according to its nature. When repentance is done, the rule of the ego, the devil, and the bad friends is destroyed; the power comes to your eyes and heart. Through repentance, your existence finds strength.

The inner world is purified. The water you drink becomes lawful. The food you eat becomes pure. You avoid matters that smell of doubt and unlawfulness. You conduct your affairs properly. The hand of grace, generosity, and love stretches out to you eagerly, and you attain great ranks. You direct all your efforts to the Master. The usual things are removed; in their place, servitude to Allah comes. The desire for pleasure is removed, and obedience comes in its place. Then you begin to understand the truth of everything. You fulfill the requirements of Islam. You perform every deed with the testimony of Islam. When the command of religion is not present, hypocrisy begins. If you find yourself in a good state, you will find yourself in a bad state. Badness is the absence of the existence of the Truth. When you are absent, bad habits disappear, and you become blind to the people.

Your outside is protected. Evil is not visible. The inner world is occupied with the Truth. Straighten your heart. The entire existence of the world comes to you. You are pleased with it. The people, as a whole, adjust themselves to you. No coming or going thing can harm you. The Master cannot take you from His door. Because you are with Him. You have turned only to Him and you observe His commands. You are watching the manifestation of His Beauty and Majesty. When you see the manifestation of Majesty, you become scattered. When you attain the manifestation of Beauty, your scattered states are gathered. When you sense the Majesty, you are afraid. This fear is unlike any other fear. When you see the manifestation of Beauty, you begin to hope for something.

The great manifestation of Majesty leads you to poverty. When the manifestation of Beauty occurs, you do not want to go anywhere. How fortunate are those who taste this! «O Allah, make our closeness complete; let us drink the wine of friendship.» «Do good in this world and do good in the hereafter. Protect us from the punishment of fire.» (Bakara/201) Amin!

24. SPEECH – NOT BEING A PARTNER IN THE MANAGEMENT OF ALLAH This speech was made in the morning of Sunday in Ribat. Date of the speech: 14 Zilhicce 545 (1150 AD). In this speech, the following topics were discussed: What is the purpose of learning knowledge, why should knowledge be learned? How can one become a participant in the divine graces? When will the veils between us and the Almighty Allah, who possesses honor and majesty, be lifted? How can one become dead by passing through everything other than Allah, and how can one die before dying? From the ego,

humans and jinn devils, how should one protect oneself from their evil and reach the right path? Can other loves coexist in the same heart with the love of Allah? The topics were discussed… Throw away your egos, inappropriate desires, and dry wishes; do not oppose the Most High and Most Mighty Allah. Take care to protect yourself from Him for your own sake and for others. Some great ones say: – Try to turn the people to the Truth; do not waste effort to turn the Truth to the people; this will not happen. Your efforts will be in vain. Immediately strike down what is worthy of destruction. Crush the head of whoever raises their head. Destroy your ego, and beat them with a stick until they comply with the Truth and reality.

Run to the righteous servants. Learn to obey the commands of the Truth from them. They fully comply with the Truth. Knowledge was created to keep affairs in order. It is not enough to memorize it; the one who memorizes knowledge but does not act on it cannot be saved. Giving speeches to the people is of no benefit. Whoever benefits from the speech and is saved, but you will sink. Know, follow the path shown by knowledge. If you act according to what you have learned, your affairs will speak when you are silent. If a person who has learned an art creates a work, the work will speak in the name of the person when the person is silent. Multiply your good deeds until your silence causes them to speak. Whoever does not benefit from knowledge cannot easily benefit others.

A great one says: – The advice of the one who does not make you happy is of no benefit. All the states of the one who acts with knowledge are beneficial, both for himself and for others. * Allah speaks to me as He wills and as He desires. My speech takes the form according to the condition of those who are present. It has been given to me to speak as much as their need. Do not let it come to your mind that I speak on my own. Many things come to your mind. You have said all kinds of words against me. It seems as if there is enmity between us. You never want me. Everything I have is poured into your mouths, counted, and scattered. My honor is as if it has been divided among you. Each of you has torn a part of me. But remember, that honor is not mine.

Its owner is great. I have not possessed anything in my existence. If I had existence, I would not hesitate to give it all to you. It is impossible for me to collect the things you have taken. You also know this. You say all kinds of things; it is not within my power to do anything for you. Why is this enmity? I am only giving you advice. I do this for the sake of Allah. My power is His. If you listen to my advice, it will be good for you. It will mean that it has been good for me. Submit to fate; otherwise, you will be thrown down. Continue on your path with Him. If you cannot walk, try to walk with effort. One day comes when you lose the ability to walk, and someone who understands your condition will take you on their back and carry you.

You will also continue on your path comfortably and happily. The true travelers on the path of Allah work at first. They strive to earn their worldly needs. They do not take more than they need; they distribute to others. Everything they take is according to the essential commands of Islam. A time comes when their material structures cannot work. Their spiritual conditions prevent them from working. In this way, they enter the path of reliance. Their hearts are filled with the love of the Truth and are sealed. All their feelings are tied against evil. Those who see them are satisfied. They easily obtain their worldly needs. They do not know hardship; fatigue does not come to their minds.
