Halal Sustenance and Family Wellbeing
One of the fundamental elements of Islamic morality is earning through lawful means. Marriage Enriched with Knowledge
According to al-Ghazali, marriage is not merely a union but also a mutual education process. The husband should impart religious knowledge to his wife, such as the obligatory aspects of prayer and her worship obligations during periods of menstruation. This means spiritually supporting each other and drawing closer to religion. Providing the necessary knowledge to protect the family from hardship is an important duty for the man. It is important to create opportunities for women to access this information and encourage their participation in religious life.
Justice and Balance
Justice is an important principle of Islam in polygamous relationships. Al-Ghazali draws attention to the difficulties that polygamy brings, emphasizing the importance of maintaining balance through methods such as drawing lots among the wives. While achieving complete equality in the distribution of love and affection within the family may not be possible, it is important to control feelings originating from the heart and act justly towards everyone. The statement of Allah Almighty, 'You will never be able to achieve perfect justice between women,' requires acceptance of human fallibility in this regard and encourages continuous effort.
