The Essence of Love
When examining the essence of love in the light of the teachings of Mevlana Celaleddin Rumi, it becomes clear that love is not simply a state of expecting reciprocation. Love is turning towards the beloved’s desires and serving them. However, this service is done with heartfelt longing, not obligation. If the beloved does not want it, the lover abstains; because love is a deeper feeling independent of the act of service itself. At the foundation of love lies a deep connection to the beloved, and this connection is an inner state rather than external actions. Just as a wheel turns; love rotates in the center while service and respect take shape around it.
The Aspect of Existence That Is Not Intended
Mevlana’s expressions indicate that outward actions and appearances can be deceiving. Sometimes, someone playing within a cloak may be unaware of the cloak’s movement, while at the same time, a great transformation is taking place. People sometimes evaluate events superficially; for example, one’s appearance of being prepared for war may not reflect their true nature. What matters is the intention and state in the inner world. Similarly, the traces of past experiences can be misleading; even if a person goes through different stages, first impressions can remain persistent in the mind. This requires caution in understanding oneself and others.
Inner Journey and Transformation
In a spiritual journey, the fear of a person’s body entering the grave can be frightening, but this fear triggers a desire to escape from form-traps. The liberation of the soul means breaking free from worldly ties. People reach their true selves through challenging experiences and turn towards universal love. Guiding figures play an important role in this process; they are like instruments and invite people to the path of truth. However, the actual transformation begins with the awareness that a person realizes within their own inner world. Just as a seed rots and sprouts underground, so too must a person mature through difficult processes.
