Wilderness and desert, my homeland is among the sands.
Companions in the deserts, always and forever.
No need for gardens, meadows, or blooming fields.
With Khidr and Ilyas as companions, walk and be content.
The eyes of the wise are tears, the garden is a rose orchard.
Here, a thousand tales are sung without end.
The outward ones, breaking, walk with ruined houses.
With the power of Truth, walk and be content.
Becoming selfless, burning, walk intoxicated and amazed.
If Allah appears in the eye, the heart is aflame.
Shouting, crying out, the soul is in lament.
Remembering and praising Allah, walk and be content.
If the All-Powerful, with might, brings peace,
And commands the lover to enter Paradise,
If he shouts and cries out, making dhikr (remembrance of God),
Becoming drunk with the wine, performing samāʿ (spiritual audition), walk and be content.
Night and day, always, never resting for a moment,
From the tongue, utter Allah's remembrance, never letting it be idle.
If tears do not flow from the eye, the heart does not burn.
Taking the fire as witness, walk and be content.
Mounting the steed of love, riding Burāq (the celestial steed),
There, the lover has wandered in the tariqa (a Sufi path/order).
Drinking the wine of secret, the primordial spirit is intoxicated.
Calling out at the door of light, walk and be content.
If the lover enters Hell, he does not care.
Seeing and knowing, he does not seize wealth and property.
The houris and palaces of Paradise do not attract his gaze.
Crying out, making noise, walk and be content.
If the Subduer, with might, calls out,
If He says, "Come, come, O those who burn for the vision!"
If tears flow from the eyes and cries are raised,
With intellect and understanding, walk and be content.
If the Merciful, with mercy, calls out,
He will question the state of the rebellious, cruel community.
On the Day of Resurrection, He will grant the vision.
Sacrificing soul and heart, walk and be content.
If the Merciful, with mercy, calls out,
With a sorrowful call, the lover's soul will enter.
In rows upon rows, the lovers will raise their heads.
Making the eye of light unique, walk and be content.
The madmen who have found the Truth speak without sense.
They make manifest the pain of their state and walk.
The highest of stations, the Station of Knowing, they seek.
They make themselves infamous among the people and walk.
Flee from the people, make the desert your homeland.
Among the deserts, companions are always and forever.
If the bread-thistle becomes your shroud,
Make all kinds of wildness your companion and walk.
Here, there is no beloved, no physician for the soul.
On these paths, there are many obstacles, no benefit.
Without giving up the soul, one cannot drink from the field of unity.
Becoming drunk with the wine, performing samāʿ, walk and be content.
The one who finds the Beloved does not know himself.
If the people of the world seek him, he flees and does not come.
If a hundred thousand counselors advise him, he does not heed their advice.
He makes himself infamous among the people and walks.
If a hundred thousand lovers burn, they are joyful.
Whoever remembers the Truth becomes a companion.
On the Day of Resurrection, he becomes intimate with the vision.
Sacrificing soul and iman (faith), walk and be content.
Whoever gives his life for Allah does not lose.
For him, the world is a garden, he never dies.
For the secret of love is hidden, the people do not know.
Taking tears as witness, walk and be content.
If love does not die, there is no true youth.
Among the people, the lover burns secretly.
Wandering the deserts, walking the paths, "Truth is without place".
Praising the Truth, walk and be content.
The one who has traversed the field of light does not know his own eye.
Night and day, intoxicated and amazed, he does not return.
The eye seeks the beloved, there is no companionship.
Longing for union with the Truth, walk and be content.
Those who are truly afflicted do not see the untroubled.
They do not mention the paths of the ascetic and the devout.
If they see benefit, they do not look at the deficient.
They become a cure for the truly afflicted and walk.
Those who know the lovers, the people do not know.
The houris, palaces, and all the angels cannot comprehend.
They do not desire "Their Lord will give them to drink" (Qur'an 76:21).
They remain loyal to the vision.
The houris and palaces take from "entahur" (Qur'an 56:22-23).
The angel Riḍwān offers the cup with respect.
The lovers close their eyes and become selfless.
They walk in the state of "wa ash-shawq" (longing).
Contemplating the Truth, may He show mercy to them.
May He cast light in the grave and show compassion.
May He make seventy groups of angels their companions.
May He grant them grace and generosity, walk and be content.
The lover burns, burns from the soul, loves the Truth.
For Allah, he divorces the world and the hereafter.
He tears his chest, stains his body with blood.
Drawing near to love, making it unique, walk and be content.
O friends, there is no price for the people of love.
Do not ask for a cure, there is no cure for the pain of love.
On these paths, if there is love, there is no ceiling.
Separating the soul from the body, walk and be content.
The body is left in the fire, the soul is elsewhere.
Reading wisdom, if the seeker reaches the word,
Whoever he sees, he takes permission and brings it to the eye.
With intellect and understanding, walk and be content.
If this desire burns the body, the soul does not burn.
For this reason, the value of love cannot be attained.
One does not flee from the conversation of the saints.
Making dhikr (remembrance of God) and dua (supplication) without ostentation, walk and be content.
Other than this world, Allah alone is sufficient.
O community, the words spoken by the Truthful Mustafa (the Messenger of God, peace be upon him).
On the Day of Resurrection, the soul will turn to the Truth.
With the tongue of religion, walk and be content.
The lovers are alive, though dead, the soul is separated.
If he wishes to fly, God protects him.
If he builds with the tongue of religion, the soul is the foundation.
The lovers are amazed and walk.
Becoming love, speaking wisdom, said Kul Khwāja Ahmed.
A hundred thousand mercies to those who listen with truthfulness.
May my Lord grant meaning, crown, and fortune.
Purifying the heart of love, walk and be content.
HIKMAT 103
Seek love with the first friend.
Fasting and prayer are obligatory for Him.
If He asks with justice at the place of resurrection,
Present the lovers to God as one.
Presenting, God gives a thousand gifts.
Saying, "See my state," shedding tears and crying out.
Shouting, making the place of resurrection prosperous.
The lovers owe the sighs of the heart.
For the lovers are always alive, never dead.
The spirits have not entered the earth.
The ascetic and the devout do not know this meaning.
For the lovers, always be present.
Fearing sins, he stands trembling.
On the Day of Resurrection, he swallows blood, saying, "What will I do?"
Crossing the bridge of Sirat, he leads the way.
Presenting his need, he bows in humility.
If a particle of love falls on someone, he becomes a wailer.
Shedding tears, he becomes an ocean.
Whatever he finds, he gives as charity on the path of Truth.
The enmity of the miserly is a burden for him.
The lovers' tears flow like blood.
Angels from all sides pour out light.
If he is heedless, he says, "Be present," and looks himself.
For the lovers, this world is a burden.
The people of the world have no concern for the hereafter.
The soul is alone, without iman (faith) and Islam as companions.
On the path of tariqa (a Sufi path/order), there is no concern.
Saying, "I am a servant," with the tongue, love is a burden.
At night Allah, by day Allah, walk without rest.
For Allah, he whirls like a moth.
He lives the times of Layla, Majnun, Farhad, and Shirin.
May Allah Most High make the lovers pure.
If love burns, it burns with the true beloved.
The metaphorical ones do not burn, they are satisfied with the soul.
For the lovers who burn, their faces are radiant.
For this reason, the beloved is capricious to love.
If thrown into fire, the lover does not burn from the fire.
He makes the earth and sky a garden with flowing tears.
If he says "Allah," his heart is torn apart.
Burning and being consumed is a feast for the lovers.
All the lovers go to the court.
Shedding tears, making lament, they go to the presence.
The seven hells cannot bear a single sigh.
With the mercy of the Merciful, the lovers are honored.
If peace is made, the lovers do not accept.
If the houris and palaces of Paradise are given, they do not attract the gaze.
Desiring the vision, they do not take their heads from the ground.
The lovers see the vision and are content.
The lovers' sighs reach the seven heavens.
If he says "Allah," every sin is erased.
The lovers' refuge is the Merciful.
The gaze of the beloved is always upon them.
The lovers are burned much by the vision of Truth.
For this reason, they do not rest, always seeking.
The promise is that the lovers will see Him.
The beauty of Truth is the reward for their tears.
The lovers look to the Truth and cry out.
The angels bring gifts and say to the Truth.
The lovers who drink the wine of longing increase in joy.
The state of lament and longing is a burden for them.
The one who drinks the wine of the soul is a sultan among lovers.
For this reason, he sacrifices his soul on the path of Truth.
If he goes to the vision at dawn, he is a guest.
If he is made to drink wine in winter, it becomes spring.
He walks hidden, whoever he sees, he becomes love.
If He shows grace, He makes the liars truthful.
The one who fears the Truth, in the court, becomes a banner.
Outwardly blind, but inwardly he has an eye.
The lover burns, the people know Allah is pleased.
The lover desires martyrdom.
The lovers have no need for much or little.
A drop of tears is the gaze of my Lord.
In madness, the head is wounded, blood flows.
If he says dhikr (remembrance of God), Allah is One and Unique.
At dawn, shedding blood is his work and occupation.
Every day, the lovers are a hundred thousand martyrs.
Kul Khwāja Ahmed has no wealth, his gaze is upon the Lord.
If he goes at dawn, he brings gifts to his Lord.
The one who bows in humility and need,
The red-faced, yellow-cheeked, his excuse is accepted.
HIKMAT 104
Those who become murīd (aspirant, disciple) in the sharia (the sacred law), poor servants,
They take their station from the sharia.
The believing servants who perform prayer,
They hope for flight to the hereafter.
If the Angel of Death takes the soul by command,
All the relatives weep and burn.
If, after taking seven steps, he remains,
Munkar and Nakir enter and ask questions.
If Munkar and Nakir enter and ask questions,
If they strike with a fiery staff,
If my head burns, my soul and body burn in the fire,
My soul boils, burning in the grave.
Four hundred and forty-four prophets, messengers, and prophets,
None remain in this world, all have passed.
The verse "Every soul shall taste death" (Qur'an 3:185)
Gives news of this in the Qur'an.
From the sharia and tariqa (a Sufi path/order), there is exposition.
From the ḥaqīqa (inner reality), the word of the Qur'an is speech.
With that light, Muhammad filled this world.
With that light, both worlds are illuminated.
In the bazaar of love, there is wandering.
The lovers are in love and walk.
So as not to ruin the place of resurrection, they burn with longing.
Crying out to God, walk and be content.
Allah says, "If My servant serves, let him serve.
Whatever he does, let the angels honor him.
Let the lover see the station of Adam without deficiency.
With the power of Truth, walk and be content.
For the lovers, on the Day of Resurrection, there is honor.
The one who is dear to the Truth sees dignity.
The houris and palaces, with folded arms, show respect.
Sacrificing soul and heart, walk and be content.
It is a great fortune to be a king in sainthood.
If he is just and values a believing servant,
If he pleases all the people with that value,
With that pleasure, he takes Paradise as his reward.
If the believing servants perform prayer and are free,
The color of that servant is yellow here.
That service is worthy in the sight of Truth.
The houris come, embrace, and fly.
When will the ignorant know the value of prayer?
With every prayer, his iman (faith) is renewed.
If he says salat, the heedless turns his head and sleeps.
From heedlessness, he sells his life to the wind.
Kul Khwāja Ahmed says, "If you say you are a servant, perform obedience.
Know that the coming of the Resurrection is near.
If you want to be close to Truth, perform obedience.
Whoever obeys becomes close to Truth."
HIKMAT 105
Azrael will come one day with permission.
You must give your precious soul from your body.
Giving your five-day life from your hand,
In the end, you must die, there is no remedy.
If your children and spouse cry and lament,
If your wealth and property remain here, you are amazed.
Your enemies rejoice when they see you,
You must bow your head and lie in the grave.
Saying inheritance, they tie your feet and hands.
Pouring cold water over your body, they wash you.
From four sides, slowly they wrap you.
From white cloth, they make your shroud.
If the elders and young carry your funeral,
If they take you to the graveyard,
If they ask seventy questions, they will be amazed.
You must answer each one.
The lovers' tomb is their building.
There you see all kinds of signs.
The grave is the gate of the Day of Resurrection.
You must go and enter the house of wisdom.
If you enter, you see darkness, there is no light.
The inside is full of longing and separation.
On that day, who will be with you there?
You must lie until the dawn of Resurrection.
In the end, your life will be complete for a day.
If you go with this, you may reach the abode of peace.
If you leave the lawful and always eat the forbidden,
You must suffer the torment there.
Kul Khwāja Ahmed, repent before you die.
Before your red face withers in the grave.
Before snakes and scorpions fill your grave.
If destiny decrees, you must be content and stand.
HIKMAT 106
It is a dark day when you depart from this world.
You must leave your wife, children, wealth, and property.
Death never leaves you, no matter how much you command.
Even if you turn the world upside down with power.
Death is inevitable, like an army.
With anger, it takes your soul, no matter how many fortresses you build.
It is decreed for all to drink the wine of death.
You cannot escape, no matter how much you fear.
The lovers' tomb is their contemplation.
You must take a lesson from the dead, burning your heart.
Always do good, so that you may rise from this world.
On the Day of Resurrection, you need a pure heart.
Whoever follows God's command is among the awliyāʾ (friends of God).
If you perform asceticism, you become one of the awliyāʾ.
Do not rejoice in your wealth, for death is certain.
In the end, you will enter the black earth, no matter how much you enjoy.
Khwāja Ahmed, do not live your life in disobedience.
If you are obedient, you are worthy of the Presence.
If you perform obedience at dawn, you are worthy of the Presence.
HIKMAT 107
Come, friends, let us all rise and speak.
Does the beloved draw us to the light?
Do the lovers who are struck by the stranger
Increase their supplications day by day?
