“Do good deeds so that you may attain salvation.” Haj Surah (22), 77 Goodness is the general term for all kinds of kindness. Muslims perform a good deed and kindness only for the sake of Allah. They believe that Allah knows every good and evil deed, and rewards goodness with merit and punishes evil with punishment. The Qur’an encourages Muslims in many verses to do good and righteous deeds. It teaches them to begin with parents and close relatives, to help orphans, the poor, and those stranded on the road. Foundations and other charitable institutions that have developed in Islamic societies throughout history are evidence of how great sacrifices Muslims have made for the benefit of humanity. Because these institutions were established to serve all people, even living beings and nature.

What We Learn
- 1There are certain rights and duties required by Islamic brotherhood. It is the duty of every Muslim to fulfill them.
- 2It is a brotherly duty for a Muslim not to oppress another Muslim, not to hand him over to the enemy, to meet his needs, to relieve his distress, to cover his faults. Those who perform these duties will receive reward and recompense from Allah.
