Hadith
Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Ey insanlar! Surely you recite this verse: “O you who believe! Fear Allah and [turn to Him] in sincerity and come not near unto sin in haste, that you may attain to righteousness.” [Al-Ma’idah 5:105]. Yet I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: “Indeed, when people see a tyrant and do not prevent him from his oppression, then it is close that Allah will send down a punishment that encompasses them all.”

What We Learn
- 1The Quran and Sunnah must be understood in their entirety and correctly.
- 2The reformation of the individual and society should be considered together; neither the individual nor the society should be sacrificed for the other.
- 3Damage resulting from individual negligence affects the entire society. Similarly, a calamity that befalls misguided societies also encompasses individuals, and the goodness of those individuals cannot prevent it because they have not done what is necessary for the reform of society.
