Hadith
It is narrated by Abu Huraira, that a black woman – or a black young man – used to sweep the Masjid an-Nabawi. One time, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not see her – or him – and asked where she was. They said, ‘She has died.’ The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, ‘Why didn’t you inform me?’ The Companions had not considered her – or him – important. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) continued, saying, ‘Show me her grave.’ They showed him the grave. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) then performed the funeral prayer and said, ‘These graves are a pitch-black darkness for those lying in them. But Allah Almighty will illuminate their graves because of the prayer I offer for them.’

What We Learn
  1. 1No one should be looked down upon; everyone should be treated with respect.
  2. 2Those who live together should be inquired about and visited.
  3. 3Efforts should be made to perform the funeral prayer of good people.
  4. 4Keeping mosques clean and being involved in their cleanliness is a valuable act in the sight of Allah.
  5. 5It is known that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) intercedes for those in graves, as seen in similar events.
