The Reward of Voluntary Worship Increases Multiplied

In another narration of the same hadith, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “What you expect from Allah has been given to you.” Ubayy ibn Kab Ubayy, may Allah be pleased with him, known by the kunyas Abu’l-Munzir and Abu’t-Tufayl, is among the learned, jurists, and beautiful Qur’an reciters of Medina. He participated in the Akaba pledge and all battles from Badr onwards. He served as a Zakat collector and a scribe for revelation. Ubayy, who was a memorizer, was among those who compiled the Qur’an. He was a member of the advisory council of Umar ibn al-Khattab. He led the Isha prayers in congregation at the command of Umar ibn al-Khattab. He was medium height, had a beautiful face and a reddish complexion, and was a truthful, right-standing, and highly civil Sahabi. He was also familiar with sacred texts. Ubayy, may Allah be pleased with him, has become the sole reference for the science of recitation. His views on Tafsir are equivalent to a book. He is among the 14 Sahabis who were authorized to give fatwas in the era of prosperity. He closely observed the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and therefore became one of the foremost among the companions in hadith knowledge. Many companions attended his assemblies. Because he was very cautious in narrating hadiths, only 164 narrations have reached us. Ubayy ibn Kab passed away in Medina in the year 19 (or 22) Hijri. May Allah be pleased with him.
