Hadith
Havle Binti Hakîm (may Allah be pleased with her) reported that she heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: “Whoever stays in a place and then says, ‘I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of His creation,’ nothing will harm him until he leaves that place where he stayed.”
Muslim, Remembrance 54, 55. Also see Tirmidhi, Supplications 40.

Narrator
Havle Binti Hakîm, known by the kunya (nickname) of Umme Sharik, was among the first to accept Islam and was the wife of Osman Ibni Maz’ûn (may Allah be pleased with him). After his death, she proposed marriage to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). She narrated fifteen hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Muslim has only recorded this hadith from her. May Allah be pleased with her.
What We Learn
  1. 1The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) always sought refuge in Allah and took shelter with Him.
  2. 2When staying in a place during travel, making the supplication as mentioned in this hadith is important for safety.
  3. 3One should seek refuge in Allah at every opportunity and ask for His help.
