Hadith
It is narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Carry the deceased swiftly. If he is a good person, this is a blessing for him; you have brought him to the reward and grace of the grave sooner. If he is not a good person, then this is a calamity; you have removed him from your shoulders quickly.”

Janaza 46; Tirmidhi, Janaza 30; Ibn Maja, Janaza 15 Muslim’s narration (Janaza 50) contains the phrase “fe hayrun tukaddimuhā alayhi” (you have brought him to the reward), which will be explained along with the following hadith.
What We Learn
- 1It is good to carry the deceased swiftly to the grave.
- 2The deceased are either good or not. There are lessons for us to learn from both. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has informed us of the last message they try to convey to us.
- 3The task of carrying the deceased belongs to men.
