Hadith
Abu Umama (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) recited many supplications, but we could not memorize any of them. So, we said: “O Messenger of Allah! You recite many supplications, and we cannot memorize them.” Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) said: “Should I teach you a supplication that encompasses all those supplications? Say: ‘Allahumma inni as’aluka min khayri ma sa’alahu minhu nabiyyuna Muhammadun sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. And I seek refuge with You from the evil of what he sought refuge with You from, our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings upon him). And You are the One to be asked for help, and upon You is the accomplishment, and there is no power nor strength except in Allah.’ O God! I ask you for all the good things that my Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings upon him) has asked of you. And I seek refuge with You from all the evil things that my Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings upon him) has sought refuge with You from. Help comes only from You, and You are the One who brings people to their desires in this world and the Hereafter. The strength to avoid sin and the ability to worship can only be attained through Allah’s help.”
