The Importance of the Word Tawhid and the Influence of Satan
The word Tawhid, which is the cornerstone of Islamic belief, and Basmala are not merely literary expressions; they are also powerful shields that protect our hearts from satanic influences. According to what we understand from the works of Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani, those who do not recite these sacred phrases have their hearts open to the influence of Satan, as mentioned in Surat Az-Zukhruf of the Holy Quran, and this influence is easily ingrained. Satan tries to lead people astray with whispers; he distracts from prayer, encourages forbidden things, and even delays good deeds, causing a person to fail in both this world and the hereafter. Therefore, it is of great importance for every Muslim to constantly recite the word Tawhid and act with Basmala in order to prevent faith from being shaken; this is the first step in creating a spiritual defense line.
Satan’s Methods of Leading People Astray: Praising, Hadith, and Zelniyun
Satan’s methods for leading people astray are quite diverse. According to al-Jilani, different types of whispers are whispered through certain names belonging to Satan. For example, an entity called Medhes causes people to be susceptible to bad desires; Hadis causes a person to forget Allah and act carelessly in prayer. Another figure named Zelniyun encourages people to lie, deceive, and stray from honesty. These examples show that Satan focuses not only on committing open sins but also on exhibiting insidious behaviors that lead to spiritual decline; therefore, it is necessary to act with constant insight and be skeptical.
Protecting Spiritual Health: Knowledge, Piety, and Being With Righteous People
The way to protect oneself from Satan is through continuous spiritual struggle. The basic elements of this struggle include acquiring knowledge, adhering to piety, and being with righteous people. Knowledge enables a person to distinguish between right and wrong, while piety disciplines the nafs and teaches avoidance of what is forbidden. Being with righteous people also creates a source of spiritual strength; their beautiful character and worship encourage the individual towards positive behaviors. We must remember that every Muslim may be influenced by Satan, but seeking refuge in Allah is the most effective way to stay on the right path. In this way, we can find the possibility of living safely in both this world and the hereafter; this is a requirement of our faith.
