Article Three
In summary, it describes the delights of Paradise and those who attain that felicity.
O Noble One! Know that the Most High, in a glorious hadith, has declared with His majesty:
“O son of Adam! How do you show affection and regard for the world? It will one day perish. Its blessings are fleeting. Life is finite and limited. Yet I have prepared for My servants who obey My commands eight Paradises within Me (adorned with eternal blessings), each with eight gates. In each Paradise there are seventy thousand gardens. In each garden there are seventy thousand cities built of pearl and coral. Within each city there are a thousand palaces constructed from red rubies. In each palace there are seventy thousand houses made of ebony. In each house there are seventy thousand chambers of gold. In each chamber there is seventy thousand thrones of yellow ruby. Upon each throne lies spread seventy thousand cushions of silk.
Upon each cushion sits a *hūrī* (maiden) and before each *hūrī* is a golden tray. On each tray are seventy thousand plates of various jewels. And on each plate are diverse kinds of food. Beneath each palace flow four rivers: one of water, one of milk, one of wine of Paradise, and one of pure honey. Along the bank of each river there are seventy thousand trees. And each tree has seventy thousand varieties of fruit, seventy thousand distinct colors of leaves. Upon each tree are seventy thousand kinds of birds of different species. Each bird praises My essence in seventy thousand languages. And I bestow upon My obedient servants, besides what is mentioned here, seventy thousand gifts every hour that no eyes have seen, no ears have heard, and no hearts have imagined.
The garments of My people of Paradise are seventy layers of a special garment called *hulle*. Their fineness and elegance do not hinder one another; the colors of the lower *hulles* shine through and harmonize with the colors of those above them. The inhabitants of Paradise neither leave it nor experience death. They do not grow old, nor feel sorrow, fear or grief, nor weep. They neither perform prayer nor fast, know no sickness, nor experience menstrual flow or postpartum bleeding. They produce no excrement nor relieve themselves in a major way. Rather, they emit a perspiration like rosewater.
Therefore, whoever desires My pleasure and Paradise, let him be content with little of the world’s blessings and abandon the transient pleasures of the world. Let him follow my Beloved with love and adhere to his path.”

The eternal bliss is permissible for those, O Saib,
Whose hand and lip are not sullied by worldly delights.

O Saib! The blessings of eternal Paradise are lawful only for those whose hand and lips are not stained by the pleasures of the world.
