A Journey in Search of Truth
As Mujaddid Nesefi stated, those devoted to Sufism aim for the purification of the heart and nearness to God. The Importance of Friendship
Friendship, which holds an important place in Ibn Arabi’s life, is also a central concept in Sufi thought. Harmonizing Knowledge and Love
The teachings of Ibn Arabi aim to establish a balance between knowledge (reason) and love (heart). It is not enough to simply use reason to understand truth; it is also necessary to purify the heart and feel spiritual enthusiasm. He does not consider intellectual virtues and mental abilities sufficient to unravel the secrets of knowledge; he emphasizes the importance of seeing with the eye of the heart, an understanding based on love. This approach aligns with the general philosophy of Sufism: knowledge, when not mixed with love, remains dry and useless.
