Manifestations of Divine Power and Humanity’s Path

Liberation from the Captivity of the Ego: The Importance of Gnosis
The text states that those with confused hearts and filled with pride have souls that claim to be nonexistent in the ‘elest’ assembly, exhibiting a bestial stance. This is a reflection of remaining captive within the ego and being unable to perceive truth. However, gnosis – that is, self-knowledge – is the key to escaping this darkness. Knowing oneself is the first step towards understanding the meaning of one’s existence, resolving inner turmoil, and reaching universal truth. Those who do not acquire gnosis are emphasized as being captivated by the world and missing out on the truth.
Fear and Hope, Observation, and Attaining Truth
Hacı Bektaş Velî directs humanity along different paths: those who desire the world, those who await the afterlife, and those who seek the Divine. It is stated that those who desire the world are even lower than animals, while those who desire the afterlife are people of ‘fear and hope.’ However, the true rank belongs to the group of ‘observers’ (mushahida). This is the pinnacle of divine love and submission; it means seeing Him, merging with Him. The path to attaining Truth lies in balancing fear and hope, but going beyond that to directly experience His existence.
The Garden of the Soul and the Water of Gnosis: Abundance of Heart
The human heart is like a garden of the soul; gnosis is the water that irrigates this garden. Just as a dry garden cannot bear fruit, a heart without gnosis cannot comprehend truth. The presence of gnosis beautifies faith and illuminates the heart. However, continuous effort is required to preserve and develop this richness, just as a gardener would do. Opening the eye of the heart, removing weeds, and ripening the fruits of truth are essential for spiritual development. In this way, we enrich the soul and make it worthy of Truth.
