Concerning the Wisdom of the Forms of the Organs Within the Human Body
Beloved! Know that philosophers have said: The upright and balanced posture of humankind, and their graceful walking on two feet, are so that they may be dignified and elevated.
The shoulders and arms (the *sā’id*) [17] are as they are to embrace what is beloved. The hands, fingers, and nails being created in such a manner—a wondrous work of art—is for countless benefits and skills. The thumb's thickness and shortness are so that when placed opposite the other four fingers, it may be strong and stable.
The nails’ largeness and softness are to aid in scratching the skin of the organs, loosening what is to be released, gathering what is to be collected, and breaking what is to be shattered; they bend and turn during impacts and blows. The breasts in men are for beauty and comeliness, while in women they are for beauty, adornment, and nursing children. Their placement on the chest facilitates breastfeeding while seated.
The human skin’s delicacy and fineness allow perspiration to easily flow from it, bringing comfort to the body and soul. Skin covers the internal organs and beautifies the external ones. Flesh protects the inner part of the body and beautifies its exterior. The navel is for air from the surrounding atmosphere to enter the body and bring refreshment to the spirit. Hair in the armpits and groin serves to expel foul odors and inflammation from their openings. Sneezing prevents the rising portion of inflammation from reaching the brain. Coughing removes coldness from the heart. Laughter brings forth joy and wonder within the soul. Weeping expresses sorrow and grief within the heart.
Trembling arises from the relaxation and release of nerves, stemming from a desire for order and strength. Yawning comes from an inclination towards food and sleep. Dreams are the resting and loosening of brain vessels, through which the vapors of nourishment rise. Sleep allows the body to rest, strengthens its powers, digests sustenance, and matures its organs. The spine’s being a series of vertebrae rather than a single bone is so that it may bend in every direction, turn, and be flexible like a bow.
Desire; it generates the inclination to eat and the longing for sexual intercourse. As a result of the desire for sexual intercourse, a child is born into the world. Were the All-Glorious Creator to make the birth of a child dependent on this pleasure and bound by it, no one would turn towards these trials and tribulations by their own will. Consequently, the human race would cease, and there would be no one left upon the earth…. [143/a]
The arrival of flatulence (zarta); that is, belching—comes from foul-smelling air produced in the stomach from food, which weighs down the heart and abdomen, and then exits. The thickness of the thigh muscles provides strength to the legs; they gradually taper, harmonizing the upper and lower organs. The shape of the knees and heels allows for all kinds of walking and sitting. The length of the feet extending forward and the creation of the toes in this manner are so that one can stand like a four-legged animal and maintain balance while walking.
The wisdom and benefits explained regarding the organs thus far represent but a small portion of the benefit and wisdom within the human body. The hadith states: “Indeed, man is the model of God’s creation.” This hadith is proof that the human body is the most powerful, complete, important, true, beautiful, sound, perfect, and greatest work of art among all created things.
Furthermore, Allah Most High says in His Eternal Word: "We indeed bestowed dignity on the children of Adam and favored them over many of Our creatures." (Isra, 17/70). Thus, Allah has proclaimed to the world that the human race is the master and superior one amongst creation.
“All glory be to God, who created man in the best form. He is free from all defects and shortcomings. The praise of God, the Most Beautiful of creators, is exalted.”

1-Allah has aided this meaning with proof and argument,
That humankind is the essence of both worlds.
2-I have told you this saying a thousand times, verify it!
Know your worth, O essence of creation!
3-If the source of the path of gnosis were known, the fountain of life would be found;
Indeed, the path of gnosis has become the source of the water of life.
