It declares through sacred hadiths that the human heart is the abode of gnosis (irfan), and whoever turns to it finds peace and intimacy.

O beloved! Know that, according to what the friends of Allah have related, the Exalted God has spoken to His servants in His eternal grace through sacred hadiths: “I cannot be contained by the earth or the heavens, but I can be contained within the heart of a believing servant.” "O Adam! Journey within your own soul; at the very first step you will find Me." "O Adam! Whoever is prevented from the spiritual journey shall fall into bodily travel, and whoever does so distances himself from Me.” “O Adam! There is an organ in your body – a heart. In that heart is a spirit. Within the spirit is a secret. Within the secret is light. And within the light am I." "O Adam! I am the Creator of the universe. Outside the secret (heart) of humankind, there is no place for Me.” “O Adam! Whoever turns away from the world turns towards the Hereafter. Whoever turns away from the Hereafter turns towards Me. Whoever turns towards Me enters into the realm of the spirit, and through the spirit reaches the secret, and thus attains Me."

“O Adam! Whoever desires to reach My exalted presence should not pay attention to the worlds of dominion (mülk), the subtle realm (melekût), and power (ceberût). Whoever is pleased with any one of these is among those who are banished from My exalted presence. For ascension (miraj) is attained by detaching oneself from Me, rising through that detachment, and attaining intimacy with Me.” “Among My servants are those whom I did not create for paradise, hellfire, reward, or punishment. I created them solely for My love. They are the people of abiding presence (likã), yearning to attain Me." "O My servant! I am within you; who are you within?" "I am with you; with whom are you?”

“O My servant! If you come to Me with your heart, then My acceptance is upon you. If you come to Me with your soul, then My beauty and My abiding presence (likã) are upon you.” “O David! I am the hand that you need. So value the hand that you need!” "O Adam! I do not look at your outward appearance or your beauty. I look at your hearts and intentions." “If the love of the world did not encompass the heart of Adam, he would surely behold the subtle realm of the heavens. If things did not cover the heart of Adam, he would certainly always find Me close to him.”

“O Adam! Whoever approaches Me with a span shall find Me approaching him by a pace. Whoever approaches Me with a pace, I approach him by a stride. Whoever walks towards Me, I run towards him." “My servant draws near to Me through supererogatory acts until I love him. And whoever I love, I make his hearing ear, his seeing eye, his speaking tongue, his grasping hand, and his walking feet. He hears with Me, he sees with Me, he speaks with Me, he grasps with Me, and he walks with Me. If he asks Me for something, I give it to him. He does not draw near to Me in anything like he draws near to Me in the obligatory duties that I have prescribed upon him.” “O Adam! I approach you by covering your faults, while you flee from Me through heedlessness." "O Adam! When you rise in the morning, you will be with two blessings whose greatness you cannot know: Is it that your sins are concealed from people, or is it the praise and commendation they have for you? If people knew what I know about you, none would speak to you. But I forgive sins with My mercy.”

“In every word you utter, in every place you look, in every sound you hear, in every scent you smell, in everything you grasp, in every step you take, in every thought that comes to your mind, in every time you are saddened and joyful – surely I am with you. I know what you do. I look into your heart. I am very close to you. I am near to all of your atoms, both outward and inward. I encompass you. I protect you, and I am the disposer of all your affairs. So give Me thanks and worship Me. Come to Me. Place your trust in Me. Leave your affairs to Me. Be pleased and content with Me and with yourself. Then I will love you and be sufficient for you. Wherever you are, you will find Me within yourself. If you are with Me, then I am with you as much as you are with Me.”
