This migration is not merely a physical movement but also the purification of the soul and its transformation into existence. While the caravan of those remaining sets out on the road, it is important not to be hasty and to progress with the power of love; for this journey is illuminated by the light of the sultan’s face and eliminates the meaning of headless wealth. Just as lifeless soil comes to life in the presence of Semseddin, everything undergoes transformation during this migration process; the world is transient, but love is eternal.
Patience and the Power of Love
Mevlana presents patience as an antidote to haste. Along with the reminder that “human beings are very hasty,” it is emphasized that one must be patient and not act hastily. Despite the nearness of love, one should intoxicate oneself with a permissible magic and try to see God’s hidden manifestations. When the time for renewal arrives, one should begin with a new self; for love opens the doors of infinity and leads the heart to truth by transforming it; this transformation is the key to overcoming all obstacles and experiencing true love.
