Everything seen while being unaware is actually an expression of divine grace. This experience allows human selfhood to transcend its boundaries and merge with the universe.
Fighting Foreign Armies: Inner Harmony
Conflicts in our inner world are a reflection of wars in the external world. Rumi states that the way to overcome this internal war is to unite the heart with love. Seeking refuge with the king—that is, turning to divine guidance—can be transformed into an antidote to poison. Taking refuge with the king for the salvation of the soul, seeking spiritual support and following the path of guidance means that inner peace can be achieved and the wholeness of existence grasped. Thanks to love, the heart overcomes foreign armies and reaches unity and harmony.
