**Seventh Point**
It declares that the human heart is endowed from its own realm with sleep and death, with the purification of the heart, and with inspiration.
O esteemed one! Know that the friends of God have said: There are two clear proofs that the windows of the soul open to the barzakh realm—one is the event seen in a dream, and the other is the memories of inspiration.
The first proof is the event in sleep. When a person sleeps, the windows of the heart open. Within the Realm of the Divine Attributes, it perceives from the Preserved Tablet what will come to it in later times, its states. It either sees this clearly, so that it manifests exactly as it is, or it sees it through parable, which is only known through interpretation. When the windows of the bodily senses are veiled by sleep, or when the mirror of the heart is polished free from the impurities of bad traits, one approaches the Preserved Tablet and the spiritual forms and matters pertaining to the unseen reflected in the mirror of the heart. It beholds wondrous shapes and strange states, finding them within itself.
If a person arises from sleep and becomes preoccupied with what is felt by the heart—that is, if it cannot turn towards its own realm—or if it is not purified from the impurities of the animal soul, then the heart is encompassed and can behold nothing. Indeed, during sleep, the external senses of the body become inactive, but the imaginative faculty remains active, preserving the forms reflected in the mirror of the heart. Because these forms are apprehended through imagination, they are not clearly apparent, but appear only through dream visions. However, in the state of death, when the sensations of the body are completely cut off, the veil of the body is removed and the heart can behold the Realm of the Divine Attributes like a flash of lightning. It becomes truly aware of the secrets of the unseen realm.
The second proof is the memories of inspiration. There is no one in whom thoughts do not arise or who lacks the influence of thought. That is, everyone can understand through inspiration what they have not seen or heard. But because the heart, when it is in the Realm of the Divine Attributes, turns away from it and becomes preoccupied with that which is felt through the windows of the external senses of the body in this world of witnessing, or because it is defiled by animalistic traits, it is veiled from its own realm and forbidden from beholding its homeland. Therefore, it remains astonished, unable to see where the memories of inspiration come from. It can only understand them by perceiving through the windows sent to it.

1- The heart-mirror of the knower appears polished.
The face of the beloved appears in that mirror.
2- If he sees himself in that mirror, it appears clouded.
If he beholds it, that mirror appears radiant.
3- He secretly gazes upon her through the mirror;
As that beautiful one’s cheek appears with delight, she gives life.
4- Fall into the passion of love, await the night at the gate of the heart,
For the place where the beloved is beheld appears as this dark spot.
5- The one who repeats with fervor the name of the life-giver;
The light—the named one—appears clearly in his heart and soul.
6- To the gaze of longing of the lover, two worlds disappear;
In wonderment, that ecstatic one appears with the beauty of the beloved.
7- If the cup of the heart were to be filled, O God, with the wine of love, a pool it would be;
How beautiful would appear the radiance of the face of the cupbearer there!
