**Article Three**
Describes the relative similarities of the seven planets and the hours of influence on the horizons of the earth.
O esteemed one! It is known that those who view events with a perspective of wonder and amazement have said: “This world is an unprecedented and astonishing creation. And these celestial spheres are likewise works of art filled with unparalleled wisdom. To arrange and operate this universe in such a manner is an act of boundless power, a manifestation of immense might.” The Exalted God, the Creator possessing wisdom in His creations, is beyond all praise. He is far removed from every imperfection. May countless praises be due to the Exalted God who created these stars, these celestial spheres, and all that appears within them with order and regularity, and has bestowed upon us His grace and mercy by placing the sun, the lamp of this world, in the midst of the stars, so that it bestows life on those upon the earth in moderation.
If the sun were to be located in the orbit of the moon with its current heat and influence, the earth would burn from the intensity of its heat. If it were to be situated within the sphere of the signs (zodiac), then the nature of all things would be corrupted by severe cold. As it is, the Sun is like a sovereign among the seven planets, the others being his soldiers and assistants; the Moon as vizier, Mercury as scribe, Venus as musician, Mars as minister of war (general), Jupiter as judge, and Saturn as treasurer.
As for the Milky Way, they call it “the Path of Milk” or "the Milky Road" in that region. The Arabs call it “the Lamp of the Heavens” and “the Imam of the Stars.” The Persians call it “Kehkeşan.” Its reality is the assembly of fixed stars which are part of the sixth of the ‘six components’ as described in the discussion of the sphere of the signs; these stars appear to touch one another like white clouds due to their proximity. However, at the beginning of the night, this Milky Way appears with a head in the south and a head in the north. When it reaches half the night, the head in the south moves towards the west, and the head in the north moves towards the east. At the end of the night, the head in the west has come to the north, and the head in the east has come to the south, so that minds are astonished by the apparent rotation of all four corners of the Milky Way as if it were a millstone.
Much has been said about this matter. However, only the Exalted God knows the true nature of what transpires within His dominion. We previously explained in our metered Turkish composition the hourly influences of the seven planets on the earth and the horizons. It is fitting to include that here now.
**Poem**
1-Praise be to God who created these countless stars and spheres,
May blessings be upon your friend who has said “without you.”
2-And after God, I revealed the secret of the celestial sphere with knowledge,
In thirty verses, I explained the misfortune and good fortune of the hour.
3-I knew a single Creator in both worlds, the Lord,
Who has bound the proximate to the ultimate.
4-If you wish to know what hour it is, what hour it is,
What star rules that moment – is it misfortune or good fortune?
5-Seven nights and seven days, at the moment of sunset and sunrise,
From which of the seven planets is the ruler within time?
6-For each day, each night has a planet that governs,
That same planet is the governor in the first hour of that night and day.
7-Memorize the seven names of the seven planets for seven days,
Saturn is the darkener of the world, indeed.
8-The letters 'he', 've', 'va' form the days of the week,
The second letters are for the night, the third for the ruler of the day.
9-The night of the bazaar (Monday), Utarid (Tuesday) the following night, Jupiter (Wednesday) is seeking,
Thursday is Venus, Saturn prevails on Friday,
Saturday is Hamis (Sunday), Mars is complete in the second letters.
10-Hamis (Monday) is the days of the sun and Friday are the days of assembly with the moon,
Saturday is Mirrih (Mars), complete in the second letters.
11-The day of the sun, Tuesday, the moon is the fourth of Wednesday,
Hamis (Monday) Jupiter, Friday Venus, Saturday Keyvan (Saturn) goes.
12-Within seven names, night and day take the first hours from above,
Count upwards through the seven planets in order and come. [57/b]
13-From Saturn to Jupiter, Mars and the Sun are pleasing in seven verses,
Pass by Uranus and the Moon, and revolve with this arrangement.
14-The planets rule for one hour each,
Night is twelve hours, day is also always twelve.
15-Night and day make twenty-four hours which is its glory,
There is no intention in it except for time.
16-The measure of the temporal hour increases and decreases,
It does not differ in number with the length and shortness of night and day.
17-Divide the arc of the day and the night into twelve parts,
This hour is always half of one-third to it, know that.
18-Compare the length and shortness of night and day with this hour,
Find the passing of sunrise and sunset with pleasing calculation.
19-Find the passing hour from the stars, O student, learn with an astrolabe,
Do not make the hour in clouds, make time from this hour.
20-Give time, the hour, one by one to the seven planets, and come,
Until you arrive at the moment when a planet is ruling, know that.
21-Saturn is the greatest misfortune of the hour and it is heavy,
Build your place in the sphere of fixed stars, do not begin any work.
22-Blessed Jupiter is the greatest good fortune of the hour, know this well,
Increase trade and sales with every profession inclined towards it.
23-The world is condemned by Mars during that hour, do no work,
Since it is the lesser misfortune, take blood and do not go anywhere.
24-Blessed be the Sun in its rule, seek all friends,
Its place is the fourth sphere, visit its sovereign.
25-For Venus is the lesser good fortune of the hour, assemble,
Engage in pleasant conversation, listen to beautiful sounds.
26-Uranus is favorable at that time, write a copy and a letter,
Read books, teach them, engrave them, calculation is desired.
27-The moon is fortunate in the heavens at that hour, travel is pleasing,
Trade, partnership, and sending letters and news are pleasing.
28-These are the laws of the seven planets according to this arrangement,
Come O Truth! Know the Truth for all rule belongs to Him.
29-All misfortune, all good fortune, all evil, all goodness,
He creates and brings about everything, know that one moment, forget others.
30-Let go of the three patriarchs, four mothers, seven ancestors, nine generations.
Praise be to the Creator and the transient One; He is the Living, He is the Enduring.
1- Glory to God! He created countless stars and the heavens. Greetings to His beloved friend! In his praise, he says, "Were it not for You [God], there would be nothing."
2- Truth declares: I have revealed the knowledge of the heavens and the stars; I have enumerated them in thirty verses, specifying auspicious and inauspicious times.
3- In both realms, I know that the true Mover is the Essence of the Lord. He has bound [creation] together; those on earth and those in heaven are dependent upon causes.
4- If you wish to know the nature of the time in which you find yourself, what star presides over it, whether it is blessed or ill-omened?
5- In seven nights and days, discover the time of sunrise and sunset. Know which of the seven planets governs that time.
6- Each night of the week is under the influence of a different planet, which holds sway during the night and in the first hours of the day.
7- Memorize these seven words, for they are effective within seven days: Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Sol, Venus, Mercury, and Moon.
8- The initial letters of these words have become symbolic representations of the days of the week. The second letter is the ruling star of the third day.
9- Sunday is ruled by Utarit, Monday by Jupiter; Tuesday’s night is governed by Venus, Wednesday by Saturn.
10- Thursday is under the dominion of the Sun, Friday evening by the Moon. Saturday belongs to Mars. Thus are the second letters completed.
11- On Sunday, the Sun; on the following day, the Moon; on Tuesday, Mars; on the fourth day, Tir; on the fifth, Jupiter; on Friday, Venus; and on the next day, Geyvan arrive.
12- According to these seven terms, take the first hours of night and day. Count the seven planets in this order, proceeding thus.
13- Find Venus pleasantly among Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, and the Sun; pass through Utarit and the Moon, and know the course of revolution in this sequence.
14- These rule for one hour each during their nights. The nights are twelve hours long, as are the days, always.
15- It is the glory of night and day to be a total of twenty-four hours. They are not equal in duration; the purpose is merely temporal.
16- The temporal hour sometimes increases or decreases in measure. Night and day do not differ by number, but by lengthening and shortening.
17- Divide the angle of day and night into twelve parts. Know that each of these hours is always one-sixth of it.
18- Compare the night to the day through lengthening and shortening; thus discover the hour. Find the past of sunrise and sunset; calculate pleasantly in this way.
19- Discover the elapsed hour from the shadow, either learn "fractional calculation" or use an astrolabe. Do not do this on a cloudy day; make this temporal hour from it.
20- Assign the temporal hour to each of the seven planets and proceed; when the star corresponds to the time you are in, know that one as ruling.
21- Saturn, which is the Great Malefic, has an hour that is heavy. Its place is the fourth sphere; build [a structure], do not begin another task.
22- Blessed Jupiter, the Great Benefic, know its hour pleasantly. Commerce, transport, marriage are good in it; incline towards every endeavor.
23- When the world is subject to Mars, do no work at all. It is the Lesser Malefic; it causes bloodshed and forbids you from going anywhere.
24- Under the rule of the blessed Sun, seek out all your beloveds. Its place is the fourth sphere; pay a visit to the sovereign.
25- Venus, the Lesser Benefic, make gatherings customary in it. Refresh yourself with conversation, speak pleasant words and listen to beautiful sounds.
26- Utarit is the time for settling down; write copies and letters in it. Read books, have them read aloud, engrave [designs], and calculate; all are pleasing in it.
27- The Moon is happiness in the first heaven; traveling is pleasant at that hour. Commerce, partnership, sending letters and news are pleasing.
28- The dominion of the seven planets is according to this order, a law. Come, O Truth! Know this truth; judgment belongs entirely to Him.
29- He alone creates all misfortune, good fortune, evil, and goodness; know this, forget what is other than Him.
30- Place three who are truthful, four mothers, seven fathers, and nine spheres; know that all of these will perish, all are transient; only He is living, only He is eternal.
