**Article Two**
It informs [us] through noble verses and venerable hadiths about attaining guidance through the Noble Qur’an and adhering to it.
O esteemed one! Know that the Most High encourages approaching His manifest Book and clinging firmly to it, warning against deviation from it. In His ancient words, He has decreed in various verses:
“Alif, Lam, Mim. This is a Book about which there is no doubt, [it is] a guidance for those who fear.” (Surah Al-Baqarah, 2/1-2) “Take firmly to the rope of Allah and do not be divided among yourselves.” (Surah Ali ‘Imran, 3/103) "Indeed, there has come to you from Allah a light and a clear guidance. With it, Allah guides those who want to please Him and brings them out of darkness into light by His permission, and guides them to the straight path." (Surah Al-Ma’idah, 5/15-16) “This is a blessed Book which We have sent down, so follow it and fear your Lord that you may receive mercy.” (Surah Al-An'am, 6/155). "O mankind! There has come to you a counsel from your Lord, and healing for the [diseases] of the hearts…" (Surah Yunus, 10/57) [176/b] “And We have also sent down this Book upon you explaining everything, and as guidance and mercy and good tidings for the Muslims.” (Surah An-Nahl, 16/89) "Indeed, this Qur’an is a straight path." (Surah Al-Isra’, 17/9)
“And We send down of the Qur’an that which is healing and mercy for the believers, but it increases only the loss of those in transgression.” (Surah Al-Isra’, 17/82) “Is it not sufficient for them that We have sent you with the Book revealing to them as clarification of all things, and a guidance and a mercy? But many of them refuse to believe.” (Surah Ankabut, 29/51) “(O Prophet,) And We have revealed to you this Book with blessings and as clear explanation for everything, and as a guidance and mercy and good tidings for the Muslims.” (Surah Sad, 38/29) “Allah has sent down the finest words, an agreement of the meaning, repeated often. Those who fear their Lord will be fearful of it; then their hearts are softened by remembrance of Allah. Indeed, in this is a reminder for those who reflect.” (Surah Az-Zumar, 39/23) “No falsehood can come to it [the Qur’an] from before or behind. [It is] sent down from the Wise, the Praised.” (Surah Fussilat, 41/42)
The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said in some venerable hadiths:
“O my community and descendants! Do you not bear witness that there is no one worthy of worship except Allah, and that I am His prophet?” They replied, “We bear witness, O Messenger of Allah.” Upon this, he said:
"Indeed, the Qur’an has one end in the Hand of Allah [of power], and one end in your hands. So hold firmly to it. Indeed, you will not err or perish if you live according to the Noble Qur’an." [100] And he said: “This Qur’an is a intercessor on the Day of Resurrection whose intercession will be accepted. It is an effective advocate whose plea is regarded. Those who cling to it and live by its contents will be taken to Paradise, while those who turn away from living according to it will be driven into the Fire of Hell.” [101] And he said: “Whoever reads the Qur’an and lives by it, a crown of light will be placed upon his head on the Day of Resurrection, so bright that its radiance surpasses the light of the sun in the houses of the world. What then is the status of one who lives according to this Qur'an?” [102]
And he said: “Indeed, this Qur’an is Allah’s bounty. So take advantage of it as much as you can. Indeed, this Qur’an is a firm rope from Allah, a clear light, and a source of benefit and healing. It protects those who turn to it, delivers those who follow it from all evil. The Qur'an is on the right path; there is no crookedness in it that needs correction. The miracles of the Qur’an do not diminish with repeated reading. Read it often so that Allah may grant ten rewards for every letter. Note! I did not say that [Alif, Lam, Mim] is a single letter. Rather, Alif is a letter, Lam is a letter, and Mim is a letter.” [103]
And he said: “Indeed, there will soon come a fitna [strife]. The way out of that fitna is the Book of Allah, by living according to it one finds salvation. For in it are the traces left by those who came before you, and news of what will happen after you, and the rulings between you. The Qur’an separates truth from falsehood. It is not a plaything or amusement. Allah destroys those who abandon it. Whoever seeks guidance other than from it goes astray. Indeed, Allah has made the Qur'an a firm rope, a wise remembrance, and a straight path. Only the Qur'an does not deviate from truth to falsehood with desires and whims, nor does it change into different forms [languages]. Scholars do not become sated by reading it. It does not age with repeated readings. Its miracles do not diminish. And it is the Qur’an that, when jinn hear it, they turn away from its authority. They said: ‘Indeed, we have heard a marvelous recitation that guides to the right path, so we have believed.’ (Surah Al-Jinn, 72/1) So whoever speaks in accordance with it will be confirmed, and whoever acts according to its commands will be rewarded with great reward. Whoever rules by its rulings will be just. And whoever calls people to it, he has called them to the straight path.” [104]
[177/a] And he said: “Indeed, Satan has despaired of being worshipped and deified in your land. But besides that worship, he is concerned with errors you consider insignificant.”
“In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. The Mighty God is true, and His Messenger has conveyed it faithfully. And we bear witness that our Lord, Sustainer, Guardian, and Friend, has spoken truthfully, with hearts affirming and tongues declaring with certainty.
O Allah! Our Lord! Accept from us this completion of the Qur’an. Forgive whatever occurred from us in its recitation – errors or forgetfulness, or misplacing a word, or distorting a letter, or advancing or delaying, or adding or subtracting, or interpreting beyond what was revealed, or doubt, or uncertainty, or haste in reciting it, or laziness, or speed of tongue, or pausing where there is no pause, or eliding without proper elision, or enunciating without clarity, or lengthening or thickening, or a glottal stop, or inflection out of place.
Record it for us complete and perfect, cleansed from all discord. Forgive us, O Lord and our Master! Do not hold us accountable, O Our Guardian! Bestow upon us the blessing of reciting it with its due right from hearts and tongues.
Grant us through it good fortune and bliss, glad tidings and security, and protect us from evil and misfortune, error and transgression. Illuminate us before death from the slumber of heedlessness and grant us safety from the torment of the grave, from the questioning of the stern examiners, and from the devouring of the worm.
Brighten our faces on the Day of Resurrection and deliver our feet from the Fire. Accept our record, make our reckoning easy, weigh our deeds with good works, strengthen our steps upon the Straight Path, and grant us abode in the innermost depths of Paradise. Bestow upon us the companionship of Muhammad (peace be upon him). Honor us by meeting You, O Judge! Respond to our supplication through the right of the Torah, the Gospel, the Psalms, and the Decisive Criterion.
Grant us all that we have asked you for, in secret and openly, and increase us with Your vast grace through Your generosity and kindness, O Most Merciful, O Most Compassionate.
O Allah! Send blessings upon Muhammad, the possessor of the law and proof, by Your mercy, O most merciful of those who show mercy. O Allah! Adorn us with the splendor of the Qur’an, clothe us in its beauty, guide us with its guidance, complete it for us through its recitation, join us with its people, deliver us from the Fire through its intercession, and admit us to Paradise through its merit, elevate our degree through its excellence, and protect us from every adversity of this world and torment of the Hereafter by virtue of the Qur’an, O Possessor of grace and kindness.
O Allah! Make the Qur’an a companion for us in this world, a protector in the grave, an intercessor on the Day of Resurrection, a light upon the path, a friend to Paradise, a shield and veil between us and the Fire, a guide and exemplar to all good things through Your grace and generosity and kindness, O most generous of those who are generous.
O Allah! Bestow upon us with every letter of the Qur’an its meaning, with every word its honor, with every verse its reverence, with every chapter its happiness, and with every section its reward.
O Allah! Grant us through the ‘alif tenderness, through the ‘ba’ blessing, through the ‘ta’ repentance, through the ‘sa’ a reward, through the ‘jim’ beauty, through the ‘ha’ wisdom, through the ‘ha’ elegance, through the ‘dal’ descent, through the ‘za’ understanding, through the ‘ra’ mercy, through the ‘za’ increase, through the ‘sin’ safety, through the ‘shin’ healing, through the ‘sad’ truthfulness, through the ‘zad’ brilliance, through the ‘ta’ smoothness, through the ‘za’ victory, through the ‘ayn’ knowledge, through the ‘ghayn’ firmness, through the ‘fa’ well-being, through the ‘kaf’ nearness, through the ‘kef’ sufficiency, through the ‘lam’ kindness, through the ‘mim’ admonition, through the ‘noon’ light, through the ‘waw’ guardianship, through the ‘ha’ guidance, through the ‘lam’ and ‘alif’ meeting, and through the ‘ya’ ease. May blessings be upon Muhammad, his family, and his companions, all of them.
O Allah! Extend the reward for what we have recited and the light of what we have memorized from the clear Qur’an to the soul and body of our Master, the Messenger of Allah, and to the souls of his family, offspring, companions, and followers, may the blessings of Allah be upon them all, and to the souls of our parents, siblings, uncles, aunts, relatives, and friends, and to the souls of those who taught us and treated us kindly, and to the souls of all believers, men and women, as a community. Through the merit of the Opening Chapter (Al-Fatiha). ”
Accept our mispronunciations, whether in the absence of *shadda* or its presence, whether in the absence of *cezm* or with it, or any other erroneous readings with incorrect vowel markings, and accept them from us as complete and perfect, and grant reward for them as if they were read flawlessly in every respect.
O our Lord! O our Master! Forgive us. O our Sustainer, do not hold us accountable for our errors. Join us among those who recite the Holy Qur’an with proper pronunciation in all aspects, heart, tongue, and limbs, and sustain us with the blessings of the Holy Qur’an.
Bestow upon us goodness and felicity, and give us tidings of safety and security. Let not our lives end in wickedness and misfortune, in misguidance and transgression. Awaken us from idleness and heedlessness, and deliver us from the torment of the grave. Protect us from the wrathful questioning of *Munkar* and *Nakir*, and from worms consuming our bodies. On the Day of Resurrection, make our faces radiant. Free our necks from the torment of Hell, and make us among those who receive their book with their right hand, and whose reckoning is easy. Weigh heavy the scales of our good deeds. Do not let our feet slip on the Bridge; establish [us] upon it. Establish us within the gardens of Paradise. Make us a neighbor to Muhammad, peace be upon him.
O Allah, the Judge! Honor us with attainment to Your exalted presence. Accept our supplications in the name of the Torah, the Gospel, the Psalms, and the Discernment (Qur'an). Grant us our hidden and outward desires. Forgive us more than enough with Your generosity and kindness, O Most Merciful, most Compassionate! Bestow blessings upon Muhammad, peace be upon him, who conveyed this exalted religion, O Most Merciful of those who show mercy!
O Allah! Adorn us with Your Qur’an. Clothe us in the raiment of the Qur'an, and guide us to the straight path with the guidance of the Qur'an. Let our lives reach their end through recitation of the Qur'an. Join us with those devoted to the Qur'an, and deliver us from the torment of Hell by the intercession of the Qur’an. Admit us into Your Paradise through the generosity of the Qur'an, and elevate our ranks through the merit of the Qur'an. Deliver us from worldly trials and the torments of the Hereafter in accordance with the respect due to the Qur'an, O Lord of grace and bounty!
O our Lord! Make the Holy Qur’an near to us in this world, a companion in the grave, an intercessor on the Day of Resurrection, a light illuminating our path on the Bridge, and a friend in Paradise. Let Your exalted Book be a veil and barrier between Hell and us. And let the Qur'an be our guide and proof in performing all virtuous deeds; with Your generosity and kindness, O Most Merciful of those who show mercy!
O Allah! Grant us a distinct flavor from each letter we recite of the Holy Qur’an, a miracle from each word, divine grace from each verse, and felicity from each chapter. Bestow upon us the reward for every recitation we complete. O Allah! Grant us familiarity with “alif,” bestow blessing through "ba," grant us repentance through "ta," increase our rewards through "sa," bestow beauty through "jim," wisdom through "ha," friendship through "hi," closeness through "dal," intelligence through "zay," mercy through "ra," abundance through "za," safety through "sin," healing through "shin," truthfulness through "sad," radiance through "dad," freshness through "ta," victory through “zi,” knowledge through "ayn," wealth through "ghayn," salvation through "fa," closeness through "kaf," sufficiency through "kef," gentleness through "lam," a place of prominence through "mim," light through "nun," sainthood through "waw," guidance through "ha," attainment to You through “lam and alif,” and ease through "ya." Prayers and blessings be upon Muhammad, peace be upon him, his family, and his companions.
O Allah! Let the reward of the recited complete recitation and the light of the Holy Qur’an reach the soul of our Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. Let it reach the souls of his family, offspring, companions, followers, and those who followed them. Inform our community of the souls of our fathers, grandfathers, mothers, and deceased brethren in faith. Bestow grace upon the souls of those who taught us the Holy Qur’an.
For the sake of Allah's pleasure, and especially for the souls of all believing men and women, “Al-Fatiha.”
