The chapter on Purity · 89 – A person in a state of ritual impurity must perform ablution.


Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) related:
That the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) would perform ablution if he intended to eat or sleep, referring to his state of ritual impurity. [178]




It is narrated from Ammar bin Yasir (may Allah be pleased with him):
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) permitted a person who is in a state of ritual impurity (janabah) to eat, drink, and sleep after performing ablution. [179]
Ali bin Abi Talib, Ibn Umar, and Abdullah bin Amr have stated: “A person who is in a state of ritual impurity performs ablution when he wants to eat.”
