SECTION ON PURITY · 105 – A WOMAN WHO HAS POSTPARTUM BLEEDING DOES NOT NEED TO MAKE UP HER PRAYERS

From Mu’adh (may Allah be pleased with her):
A woman asked Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), “Does a menstruating woman make up the prayers she misses?” Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) responded to her, "Are you from Haruri?" We would experience menstruation in the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) but did not make up [the missed] prayers; nor were we commanded to do so. [206]
Haruri: This is a designation relating to Harura. Harura is a place two miles from Kufa. The Kharijites settled there. The Haruris said that just as a menstruating woman must make up her fast, she is obligated to make up the prayers. This view contradicts the consensus of the Muslims.

Narrated Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her:
As was narrated in the preceding hadith. Abu Dawud said: Ma’mar added from Ya'qub: (We were commanded to make up missed fasts, but we were not commanded to make up missed prayers.)
