ABLUTION · 23 – PURIFICATION WITH WATER (ABSOLUTION)
43 – Anes ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) entered a garden. With him was a young boy who held a water vessel. He was among the youngest of us. He placed the water vessel beside a Sidir tree. The Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) relieved himself. He purified himself with water and came to us.
EXPLANATION
Among the words in the hadith text, "hait" means an enclosed garden or orchard.
“Miza” is a water vessel sufficient for ablution.
“Sidir” is a tree; its veins are dried and used as fiber in bathhouses. Ibn Raslan says: “A ‘sitr’ is also what is above the door, providing shade and shelter from rain.” (Bezl al-Majhud, vol. 1, p. 186).
This hadith indicates that it is permissible for the youngest servant to bring water there when there is no water available in the lavatory.
It is also evidence of the desirability of using water when it is present.
44 – It was narrated from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) said: “This verse descended concerning the people of Kubal: ‘There are among them men who love to purify themselves!’ ” (Surah At-Tawbah, verse 108).
Abu Huraira said: The people of Kubal used to cleanse themselves with water. This verse descended about them. [62]
EXPLANATION
The people of Kubal, who would wipe and then purify themselves with water, were recipients of our Lord’s praise. Believing individuals who pay attention to cleanliness will always be worthy of this praise.
