It states that seclusion draws the person closer to God spiritually and leads them to complete tranquility and abiding communion.

O esteemed one! Know that the friends of God have said: He who withdraws from people draws near to Truth. He who becomes estranged from people finds intimacy with his Lord.

Knowledge of the realm of the divine is dependent on separation from people. Separation from people is the most excellent trait. To despair of people is better than supplicating them. Ease lies in abstinence, and safety resides in solitude. The fruit of solitude is communion with God. He who becomes estranged from people becomes a frequent visitor to the exalted court. One who knows the world turns away from it. One who understands people remains solitary. He who keeps aloof from people finds bliss in God’s presence. He who does not sever ties with people cannot reach his Lord. Blessed be he who withdraws from people and occupies his heart (with) God. Involvement with people is a calamity. Excessive knowledge is distress. Avoid the foolish one. For his smiling face like that of a friend is weariness and boredom. What he deems proper is, in fact, wrong. To contradict him is utter disgrace. Beware of the friendship of the fool. For no good comes from him. He may intend to benefit you but harms instead, unbeknownst to you. The faults of one who seeks closeness with his opposite are revealed; his heart becomes sorrowful and distressed. Converse with a simpleton brings pain and torment. The smiling face of a fool is a great affliction. Do not befriend or associate with the senseless.

Communicate with those who are discerning, pious, intelligent, and learned [222/a]. It is not right to obey people in a place where there is rebellion against the Creator. When one spends too much time with women, affection does not remain in the heart. Woman is like a serpent, but her bite does no harm. Although the female gender is inherently flawed, what is worse is our dependence on them. Women are prone to deceit. Therefore, caution is necessary. He who avoids looking at foreign women and safeguards his gaze finds the taste of faith in his heart.
