SECTION ON PRAYER · 70 – FORMING A CONGREGATION WITH TWO PEOPLE
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered the home of Umm Haram.
They brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ oil and dates.
He ﷺ said, “I am fasting. Place the dates in the bowl and the oil in the flask.”
Then he rose and offered two supererogatory prayers for us. Umm Sulaym and Umm Haram stood behind us.
Sabit says: I only know that Anas said, "He made me stand upon a rug on his right side."
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) relates: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) led a man and a woman in prayer. He positioned Anas to his right and the woman behind him.
From Ibn ‘Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him:
I slept in my aunt Maymunah’s house. At a certain point during the night, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, arose. He untied the covering and performed ablution. Then he tied the mouth of the covering and stood for prayer. I also rose. I performed ablution as he had done. Afterwards, I came and stood to his left. He took hold of me with his right hand. He circled me around behind him and positioned me on his right. And so I prayed with him along with the Messenger of Allah. [396]
It was narrated to me from Ibn Abbas concerning the previous story:
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, grasped my head or my hair.
He turned me towards his right side.
