You are powerless; He is the Sovereign. What befits you is to supplicate. It is He who will send His help.
O Noble One,
Turn away from those who call to lust. Do not pursue vain pursuits.
“Do not follow [your] desire, for it will mislead you from the way of Allah.” (Ṣād, 26)
Never keep company with those whose hearts are hard, for the verse says about them:
“Woe to those whose hearts are hardened against the remembrance of Allah.” (al-Zumar, 22)
“Respond to your Lord before there comes a Day from Allah for which there is no repelling.” (al-Shūrā, 47)
The verse in its meaning is a call to you. Hear His call with the ear of your heart:
“Has the time not come for the hearts of those who believe to be humbled to the remembrance of Allah and what has come down of the truth?” (al-Ḥadīd, 16)
“Does man think that he will be left neglected?” (al-Qiyāmah, 36)
These verses are a warning.
“Let not the life of this world deceive you, nor let the deceiver deceive you about Allah.” (Luqmān, 33) (the deceiver: Satan, who adorns falsehood and makes it appear as truth)
Look at this verse and awaken from the sleep of heedlessness.
You will only learn if you ask. Ignorance does not pass by remaining silent. Therefore, ask. Ask what is necessary for you.
Ask about the spiritual stations.
“Men whom neither commerce nor sale distracts from the remembrance of Allah.” (al-Nūr, 37)
So that you may understand the qualities of those described by the verse.
You are a traveler of the spiritual world. Do not bring these worldly matters to mind in that realm. That realm is the Kaʿba of reaching your goal. Turn your direction there. Find it and advance. Do not pause in your journey.
“Turn to Him with complete devotion.” (al-Muddaththir, 8)
Contemplate this beautiful meaning. Separate yourself from everything, strip yourself bare.
“Say: Allah sent down that Book. Then leave them to play in their falsehood.” (al-Anʿām, 91)
Hear this divine meaning. Entrust your affairs to Allah.
“I entrust my affair to Allah.” (al-Muʾmin, 44)
Do not set out on this path alone. Otherwise, you will be stranded and lost on the way. Everyone’s door is different. But traveling together is necessary. One must be with companions, with the Ṣiddīqūn (the truthful).
“O you who believe! Fear Allah and be with those who are true.” (al-Tawbah, 119)
With this command, He informed us to keep company with them. The traveler must be on the road. Pass beyond the world. For Allah the Exalted said:
“Indeed, We have made whatever is on the earth an adornment for it.” (al-Kahf, 7)
What is an adornment on the earth is not an adornment for you. You cannot obtain it. Its reckoning remains.
It is mentioned in the verse:
“Know that your wealth and your children are but a trial.” (al-Anfāl, 28)
Do not lose this trial. Deliver your essence to safety.
Pray abundantly, supplicate. Know your powerlessness.
“Who answers the distressed when he calls upon Him and removes the evil and makes you inheritors of the earth?” (al-Naml, 62)
You are powerless; He is the Sovereign. What befits you is to supplicate. It is He who will send His help.
Continue on your way with this supplication:
“Guide us to the straight path.” (al-Fātiḥa, 5)
If you fulfill these duties, help will come.
“Indeed, the friends of Allah—there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve.” (Yūnus, 62)
Read the divine meaning.
“They will be greeted with peace from a Merciful Lord.” (Yā Sīn, 58)
Receive this glad tidings. Then the helping hand will come.
Hear the meaning in the phrase: “[They will] receive help from Allah and a near victory.” (al-Ṣaff, 13). Do not remain there. For your journey continues.
“They will be in Gardens of bliss.” (al-Wāqiʿa, 12)
Your Lord is calling you there. You must respond to the invitation.
“They returned with favor and bounty from Allah.” (Āl ʿImrān, 174)
Be one of them. If you wish to be, do what is said.
The servant’s duty is servitude. The Generous Allah does not abandon His servant. He brings His servant to attainment. He brings him to union. He brings everyone who strives to attainment. He is transcendent above form. He is found with awe. Work without ceasing. The cups of the wine of union begin to circulate.
“All this is a reward for your deeds. Your striving has been accepted.” (al-Insān, 22)
“And Allah spoke to Moses with [direct] speech.” (al-Nisāʾ, 164)
The noble verse relates this.
“And when his Lord manifested Himself to the mountain, He made it crumble to dust.” (al-Aʿrāf, 143)
This meaning cannot be exhausted by explanation.
“And Moses fell down unconscious.” (al-Aʿrāf, 143)
You witness this spiritual state of sekir (spiritual intoxication, loss of self) with the eye of insight.
That is the realm of union. You can see this reality with the eye of insight. You confess your powerlessness.
“Some faces, that Day, will be radiant, looking at their Lord.” (al-Qiyāmah, 22–23)
Here, the beholder is powerless. And the One beheld? That is what the noble verse explains.
“Vision perceives Him not, but He perceives [all] vision.” (al-Anʿām, 103)
May the Exalted Lord make us all realize our powerlessness. May He make us among those who surrender to Him. Āmīn!
