Ninth Article
It explains the manners and customs of a woman’s conversation and familiarity with her husband.
O beloved! Know that the people of refinement have said: The manners and customs of a woman's conversation with her husband are twenty:
To rise to greet him when he enters. To welcome him with a smiling face. To greet him by saying, "Welcome, my lord." To take his coat. To obey and submit to him in every matter he commands. Not to flee from his bed. Not to go outside the home without his permission. When he desires a kiss from her, to surrender her self to him and not delay his desire. To clean his clothes and prepare them neatly. To bake his food and bread. To light his lamp/stove and prepare his bedding. To prepare water for him for ablution (ghusl) and ritual washing (wudu). If he desires, to assist him in performing ghusl and wudu and render service. Not to fast optional fasts without his permission. Not to flaunt her beauty and possessions before him. Not to cause difficulty for him regarding clothing and sustenance (being content with what he brings according to his means). Not to raise her voice above his. Not to torment him and weary him of his life. To pray for him and praise him in his presence and absence. To adorn herself for him, apply kohl to his eyes, henna to his hands, and to beautify herself with other things religiously permissible. To protect his honor and property, night and day. To not be visible to unlawful men and not to give away his possessions to anyone without his permission.

O my cypress-like one, this is what I request of you still. May the Presence of our Lord not abandon me even for a moment.
