Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, reported that Fatimah bint Hubaysh came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, saying:

"I am a woman who cannot escape from the blood." (Implying it continues)

“Should we abandon prayer?”

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “It is a vascular disturbance; it is not menstruation. Abandon prayer when your customary days arrive, and once they pass, cleanse yourself with water, then pray.” [218]

It was narrated on the meaning of the preceding hadith with the chain of Zubeir and this narration contains the following statement: “When menstruation begins, abandon prayer. After the duration of menstruation has passed, wash away the blood and perform ghusl and pray.”
