PRAYER SECTION · 106 – PRAYER CONCERNING THOSE WHO TALK AND SLEEP

From Abdullah ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, it is related that:
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Do not offer prayer over the sleeping or the speaking [person].”
EXPLANATION:
Offering prayer over a sleeping person is disliked. However, if one’s home is constricted and they find no secluded place, it is not disliked. For Lady Aisha related that she saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, praying in his house facing the qibla without a screen while she was asleep. And [one] has been forbidden from turning to offer prayer over those who speak, because speakers disturb the tranquility of the one praying and lead them astray.
