THE PRAYER SECTION · 55 – RUSHING TO PRAYER
Abū Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Do not hasten to the prayer by running, but come towards it calmly and with reverence. If you arrive [with the congregation], pray; if you do not arrive, complete [your own prayer]."
Abū Dāwūd said: Zabaydi, Ibn Abi Zayd, Ibrahim ibn Sa’d, Ma’mar, Shu'ayb ibn Abu Hamza, and Zuhri narrated it in this way.
"Complete what you have missed," only Ibn Uyayna transmitted from Zuhri saying: "Make up what you have missed." Muhammad ibn Amr narrated from Abu Salama, who narrated from Abū Hurayrah, through Ja’far bin Rabia al-Arraj, who narrated from Abū Hurayrah: “Complete what you have missed.”
Ibn Mas'ud and Anas narrated from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and they both said: "Complete what you have missed."
Abu Hurayra, may Allah be pleased with him, said: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Come to prayer with tranquility and reverence; perform what you catch, and make up what you miss."
Abu Dawud said: Ibn Sirin transmitted the word “make up” (kaza) from Abu Hurayra. Abu Rafi’ transmitted from Abu Hurayra, and Abu Zar transmitted from Abu Hurayra: "Complete what you have, and make up [what is missed]." There is disagreement regarding the wording of this word "make up" (kaza).
