The world is like a market that opens in a new place every day. It is a bazaar; sales are made, and it soon closes. Do not be captivated by it; turn your heart’s eyes away from it. Do not see people as possessing wealth; strive to see the true Owner. Your heart must always remain pure.

Working and earning should not harm your purity; close the door of what you fear will bring evil. Turn your direction towards nearness to Allah and the doors of the unseen realm. Pay attention to those things that are specific to you; look at what concerns your very being; that is the most important thing. You have little power over others. They are protected by their Lord. Choose the tasks that belong to you. If you interfere in everyone’s affairs, you may lose yourself. Cast your ego into the world. Give your heart to the Hereafter and surrender your inner self to Allah. And there, with the language of your soul, say: “We know exactly what we want; we believe in it.”
Those who are on the path of truth are the heirs of the prophets. If they give you a command, obey it, for they give you commands as an obligation from Allah. The Prophet’s command forbids and compels action. Their speech begins with the words of the Prophet. They do good to everyone and expect nothing from anyone. Ego and evil desire cannot move them. They do not allow personal opinions to associate themselves with Truth. “Take what the Prophet has brought, do not do what he has forbidden.” (al-Hashr, 59/7) is a verse that those great people hear with their innermost ears.
Follow the Prophet. If you follow him, someone will present you to the one who gives the attribute of prophethood. Great people have become close to Truth because they followed the Prophet. Titles were given to them. They adorned themselves with splendid garments. Truth made them rulers over the people.
O impure ones, you think religion has been abandoned. You also consider their commands as insignificant. There is no goodness in you, nor in those devils you follow, nor in your bad companions who are close to you.
O Allah, guide me and them to Yourself. Grant us a return to You. Deliver us from the bonds of hypocrisy and disbelief.
Worship the Almighty and Majestic Allah. Consider lawful earnings as an aid for worship. Allah Most High loves those servants who worship and submit to the truth, who eat lawful sustenance. Allah loves one who eats lawfully and acts righteously. One who eats and drinks but does not serve is unloved. Allah loves one whose earnings are consumed. He does not love one who engages in deceitful work. Whoever lives off the backs of people, Allah does not love him. Those devoted to Tawhid are loved by God; a polytheist is not loved. Allah Most High loves those who submit to His commands. He does not love those who serve others. The primary condition for love is obedience and being compliant. A stubborn head is unloved. Disagreement is born from disobedience.
Surrender yourselves to your Creator. Submit to His plans, do not rebel against Him in worldly and Hereafter matters.
In my early days, I experienced some difficulties. I prayed for them to be resolved, and they increased even more. I was astonished; at that time a voice came to my heart: “Did you not tell us that your state should be one of surrender?”
Therefore, I adopted modesty and did not raise my voice.
Woe to you, you claim to love Allah’s love, yet there are many created loves in your heart. Purity is His love. Grief is being attached to someone other than Him. If you pollute the love of Truth with others, all the harm will be to you. If you do such a deed, what befell Ibrahim (peace be upon him) will also befall you. You will feel the distress that Prophet Yaqub experienced in your own being. They loved their children; this harmed their love for Truth. Both of them suffered greatly because of that love, as you know.
Our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) loved his grandsons Hasan and Hussein. Gabriel came and asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
“Do you love them?”
“Yes!”
“One of them will be poisoned, and the other will be martyred by a sword.”
He lessened their love somewhat because of this event.
He set about worshipping Allah; but he could not forget their grief.
Allah Most High possesses the hearts of prophets, beloved saints, and righteous servants. He does not want another love to enter there.
O you who desire the world, open your hand and look! What do you expect with this deceitful state of yours?
Woe to you, you feel sufficient in working. There is an eye on the people’s wealth beside you. You are selling your religion and expecting something from them. Work! Working is what all the prophets have done. No prophet has been without art. If anyone takes something from the people, it is with Allah’s permission.
O those who enter the quagmire of lust by drinking the wine of the world, you will understand the calamity of being trapped in bad desires while intoxicated.
