677 – From ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Ghanm (may Allah be pleased with him): Abū Mālik al-Ashʿarī said: "Let me inform you about the prayer of the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him). The Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) would have the call to commence (iqāma) made for the prayer, arrange the men in a row, place the male children in a row behind them, and then lead them in prayer. Thus, he described the prayer of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Then he said: 'This is how the prayer is.' The transmitter ʿAbd al-Aʿlā said: 'I think (my teacher Qarra ibn Khālid) said that the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The prayer of my community is like this.'
