From Amr ibn Shu’ayb, from his father, from his grandfather, may Allah be pleased with them all:

We accompanied the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, on a steep mountain path to a place called Azahir. The time for prayer arrived. While we were behind him, we took a wall as a screen (for praying). A lamb then came along. It was passing in front of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, continued to repel it until it touched his blessed belly against the wall, and the lamb passed from behind.

“It is as Abu Dawud or Musaddad has narrated.”

EXPLANATION:

Behme: Meaning a lamb.

Azahir: The name of a place between Mecca and Medina.

This honorable hadith is evidence that the Imam’s screen serves as a screen for the congregation as well, and there is no need for the congregation to have a separate screen.

From Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him:

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was performing prayer. A young lamb passed before the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and he prevented it from passing.
