Nefsin dik kafasını yere eğer. Hırsına, tamahına gem vurur Neyle bilir misin? “Allah yolunda Hak cihadı ile cihad ediniz” (22/78)
O Noble One,
A verse states:
“Allah wills, He chooses whomever He pleases to His own essence…” (42/13)
This verse alludes to the soldiers of divine attraction. Such a drawing near is the greatest aid and favor from Allah – something awaited by those who move from the Divine towards creation. Prepare yourself; it may arrive suddenly one day. Ensure you have everything in order.
Once it arrives, there’s nothing more to be done. Years will pass, and without preparation, you remain unchanged.
Do not expect immediate results. First, become worthy of that favor, for it is what will make you devoted to Allah. It draws you into its embrace, after which you shall witness wonders.
Your heart’s cherished reign will be shattered and humbled; its word will lose authority.
Nefsin dik kafasını yere eğer. Hırsına, tamahına gem vurur… How do you know?
“Strive in the way of Allah with striving.” (22/78)
With this verse as evidence and by command of this instruction, strike your unruly nafs with the reins of spiritual discipline.
Confine its desires born from vanity to the prison of piety, and chain it with the effortful struggle.
If a sense of security exists—especially if those feelings of security have become like Pharaohs—do not despair; they too will be brought:
“Obey Allah and His Messenger.” (4/59)
Thus, after these negative emotions are suppressed, the time for refinement arrives. What benefit is there in merely imprisoning and chaining something, then abandoning it?
Now is the time to learn adab (etiquette). There will be demolitions and burnings here as well; but all of them are for the sake of adab. Do not fear if one is taken away; a better one will replace it.
The guiding principle followed in this regard is:
“Whoever commits an evil deed, he will be requited by it.” (4/123)
A sentence is read to the ear of every intention, desire, and voluntary action.
Once these soldiers of divine attraction begin to subdue a person, all customs and formalities vanish. They are destroyed. Confusing states disappear; contrary voices fade away—completely.
For a king has entered that land. He has burned the old ways and replaced them with new and better ones. Which sultan enters a land without destroying its former customs? Especially if those customs are base, and the people are dissolute. To illustrate this, the tongue of faithfulness recites these verses:
“When conquering kings enter a village, they lay it waste; they humiliate the noble people thereof.” (27/34)
All for purity—all effort is for the heart to attain purity.
All of this happens solely to grant the heart its original purity.
The only way to find it is through Islam – our religion. Whoever seeks to find that original purity outside of Islam errs, strays, and cannot find their way. For Allah Most High says:
“Whoever takes a religion other than Islam, it will not be accepted from him…” (3/85)
The heart will be cleansed of such impurities. The field of the heart will be purified of this kind of blemish. And it will be free from these diseases. Then it will enter the garden of the realm of souls, to be perfumed and fragrant.
The entire matter is to enter that garden of the realm of souls. Once inside, a hand extends, points, and proclaims:
“Indeed, those are the ones whose hearts Allah has put faith in…” (58/22)
These breezes carrying divine grace blow into those pure hearts, infusing them with fragrance.
It is after this that the candles of the heart begin to shine with the light of Allah.
“Allah will perfect His light…” (61/8)
According to this noble verse, that candle shines. It burns… always burns… radiates… and illuminates its surroundings.
Where does that illumination primarily reveal? Let me tell you:
“The earth became another [creation].” (14/48)
That candle reveals the realm of observation. It shows the flashes of lightning there.
After that, mountains of aspiration will no longer remain.
“All of them shall perish.” (25/23)
If you were to ask what about these visible mountains and hills?
Then the tongue of faithfulness would deliver this divine verse to you:
“You assume that the mountains are motionless, permanent bodies; but they move like clouds.” (27/88)
It is incumbent upon every transient thing to dissolve and vanish—today or tomorrow. This is necessary for the absolute manifestation of Allah. Therefore, the angel Israfil receives the command to blow the trumpet:
“The Trumpet will be blown…” (18/79)
And as soon as that trumpet is blown:
“Everything in the heavens and earth will die.” (39/68)
After this, those who are to return to a new life are released. They are not broken or harmed; instead, they are presented with this divine command:
“They will not be dismayed by the great cry.” (21/103)
No fear remains for them, nor anything that causes sorrow. Allah Most High invites them to exaltation through the tongues of the angels. There, they are placed in the realm of faithfulness, again through the tongues of the angels:
“Good tidings for you today…” (57/12)
They are given glad tidings. The gates of paradise are opened to them, and this command is given:
“Peace be upon you! You have been purified. Enter Paradise.” (39/73)
After attaining these blessings, they all say with one voice:
“All praise is due to Allah. He has fulfilled His promise to us. He has made us inheritors of this earth. We will dwell therein as we please. How excellent is the reward of those who do well!” (39/74)
