ABLUTION SECTION · 17 – PRAYER TO RECITE AFTER USING THE LAVATORY
Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated:
– Whenever the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) would leave the lavatory, he would say:
“O my Lord, I seek Your forgiveness.” [51]
COMMENTARY
The Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) would say “Gufranaka” when leaving the lavatory. The reason for this was that the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) was constantly engaged in remembrance (dhikr), and because he could not remember Allah in the lavatory, he considered this a deficiency and sought forgiveness from Him.
