SECTION ON PRAYER · 90 – THE SHOES OF THE ONE WHO PRAYS
654 – From Abū Hurayra (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “When one of you prays, let him not place his sandals to his right side, for someone else’s right side will be there; nor to his left, unless there is no one to his left. Rather, let him place them between his feet.”
655 – From Abū Hurayra (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “When one of you prays and removes his sandals, let him not cause harm to anyone with them. Rather, let him place them between his feet or pray with them on.”
EXPLANATION
It is not proper for anyone to disturb another with his shoes. In mosques, it is not appropriate to leave places for shoes, to place one’s shoes next to oneself by wrapping them in something, or to take them in hand and, while swinging them, pass in front of those sitting in the row, causing water and earth to drip onto their heads.
