307 – From Umm ʿAtiyya (may Allah be pleased with her): She had pledged allegiance to the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him). She said: "We did not consider the yellowish or muddy discharge that appeared after purification (from menstruation) to be anything of significance." [228]

EXPLANATION

According to the Ḥanafīs, unless pure white is seen following the blood, it is still considered menstruation. After muddiness, performing ghusl (ritual bath) is obligatory. According to Aḥmad ibn Ḥanbal, if muddiness is seen after the cessation of blood, she performs ghusl and prays. According to the Shāfiʿīs, if muddiness is seen after the cessation of blood and it does not exceed fifteen days, it is considered part of menstruation.
