The First Point:
Explaining the Superiority of Divine Love through Verses and Hadith.
O esteemed one! Know that the Most High (Allah) has encouraged His servants to love Him and has given them glad tidings of attaining this, revealing the ways to do so. Indeed, in His majestic Book, He says:
“For Allah is Affectionate and Merciful to humankind.” (Al-Hajj 22:65)
"And Allah is Forgiving and Compassionate towards His servants." (Al-Baqarah 2:207) "They love Allah, and Allah loves them." (Al-Ma’idah 5:54) “Allah loves those who repent and those who purify themselves.” (Al-Baqarah 2:222) “Indeed, Allah loves those who are mindful of Him [in obedience].” (Ali Imran 3:76) "Allah loves those who act with kindness." (Ali Imran 3:134) “Indeed, Allah loves the doers of justice.” (Al-Ma’idah 5:42) “(O Prophet), say, ‘If you love Allah, then follow me; Allah will love you and forgive your sins.’” (Ali Imran 3:31) "(Moses!), I gave you My love for you to be loved and nurtured in My presence." (Taha 20:39) “I have appointed you a messenger unto them.” (Taha 20:41) "That which comes to you of good is from Allah, and that which befalls you of evil is from yourself." (An-Nisa 4:79) “My Lord is Forgiving and Merciful, [and] loves the believers.” (Hud 11:90) “Therein is a greeting from your Lord, [a salutation of peace].” (Yasin 36:58) "Allah has created between you affection and mercy." (Ar-Rum 30:21) “(Allah) has bestowed blessings upon you in abundance, seen and unseen.” (Luqman 31:20) “If you were to count the favors of Allah, you could not.” (Ibrahim 14:34)
And in His sacred hadith, He says: "O Adam’s son! If you desire My love, then remove the love of the world from your heart. For I do not combine the love of the world with My love in one heart. O Adam’s son! How can you seek My love when you desire the world and love it? You can only attain My love and pleasure by abandoning [the love of] the world. O Adam’s son, devote much time to worship, so that I may fill your heart with My love; turn towards Me, and I will be your guarantor. O Adam’s son, serve in My path, for I love those who serve in My cause.” “My servant draws near to Me by performing optional deeds until he loves Me. When he loves Me, I become the ear by which he hears. O Adam’s son, I make obligatory upon them My love when they love one another for My sake."
“O David! My Paradise is for those who obey, remembrance for the rememberers, sufficiency for those devoted to reliance [on Allah], increase of blessings for the thankful, mercy for those who bestow favors, and intimacy for the gnostics. In truth, I am especially for the people of love.” O David! [272/b] “I look into the heart of My servant; if I find in it the love of this world and the hereafter, I fill it with My love. O David! When I love a servant, I rain down trials upon him. The servant begins to supplicate, and I love him as I love his voice. O David! Inform the people of the earth that I love those who love Me. I sit with those who sit with Me. I befriend those who remember Me. I converse with those who speak about Me. Those who choose My friendship, I also choose them. I grant those devoted to obedience their desires. I accept a servant who loves Me wholeheartedly.” O David! “He who does not love Me does not know Me. How can one who does not know Me love Me? O David! Whoever sleeps without mentioning Me at night has lied. Does the lover not wish to be alone with his beloved? O David! Those who truly love Me have no recourse but to attain Me. O David! I give you what you need, but you also do what is required of you. O David! Ask for My inclination [towards you], for I have made the hearts of those yearning receptive and illuminated them with the light of My gracious countenance.”
“O My servant, love Me. O My servant, your right over Me is love, and My right over you is that you love Me. O My servants, while I love you and am preoccupied with you and long for you, you are occupied with others – what injustice is this? The sincerity of the devoted’s yearning is as much as I yearn for them. When a servant’s yearning for Me prevails, he remembers Me and becomes a lover. Then I love him, and he finds Me.”
*Nazm (Poem)*
1- Vedûd [28] said: "They love Him, and He loves them." Thus, the wine of love entered our hearts.
2- The soul's mirror reflected His pure beauty; he loved, becoming both seer and seen.
3- Love emerged from the reflection of primordial love – countless ones prostrate to this beauty.
4- The world became a tavern of love, overflowing with commotion. Thousands of lovers’ melodies, thousands of verses and songs.
5- For love resides in You; soul, religion, and heart are Yours. Understand yourself well, for your destiny is blessed.
6- Do not go far, deceived by illusion – understand yourself. The nonexistent beloved is unworthy of a single seed.
7- O Truth! The soul is like the sediment of the ocean when it drinks the wine of love; the body becomes one with existence.
