THE CHAPTER ON PURITY · 35 – WATER WILL NOT INVALIDATE JUNKBOO
From Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him:
A wife of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, washed from a basin. Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, came to wash from that same basin for ablution or purification. The wife said: “O Messenger of Allah! I was in a state of ritual impurity (junub) when I washed.”
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Water does not become impure.” [80]
Note: In the narration of Dara Kutni, it is stated that the wife involved in this incident was Maymuna, may Allah be pleased with her.
Four things do not become ritually impure (junub): 1 – Water, 2 – Garments, 3 – Earth, 4 – Vessels.
