The Taharah Section · 114 – Those Who Say That an Excused Woman Washes from Noon to Afternoon
From Sumayya, the slave of Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him: Ka’kal and Zayd ibn Eslem sent [a question] to Said ibn al-Musayyib concerning a woman who sees blood – how should she purify herself? Said ibn al-Musayyib said: “She purifies herself from midday to midday, performing ablution for every prayer. If the bleeding is abundant, she covers it with a cloth.”
Abu Dawud said: It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar and Anas ibn Malik that [she purifies] from midday to midday.
Again, Dawud (ibn Abi Hind) and Asim (ibn Sulayman) narrated from Shabih, who narrated from his wife, who narrated from Kumaira, who narrated from Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her. However, in Dawud’s narration: “She performs ghusl every day.” In Asim's hadith, it was narrated as "at the time of midday."
Salim ibn Abdullah, Hasan and Ata also said something similar.
Abu Dawud said: Malik said, “I think Ibn al-Musayyib’s hadith is about purification to purification. People have transmitted it as from midday to midday.”
Miswar ibn, Abdülmalik ibn Said ibn, and Abdurrahman ibn Yarbu' also narrated this hadith. There, they said, "She purifies herself from purification to purification." But people transmitted it saying, “She purifies herself from midday to midday.”
