SECTION ON PRAYER · 112 – THOSE WHO SAY THAT A WOMAN PASSING IN FRONT DOES NOT INVALIDATE THE PRAYER
710 – From ʿĀʾisha (may Allah be pleased with her): The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was performing prayer, and I was between the qibla and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Shuʿba said: I think that ʿĀʾisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said, "while I was menstruating." Abū Dāwūd said: This hadith was narrated from ʿUrwa, who narrated from ʿĀʾisha, by all of the following: al-Zuhrī, ʿAṭāʾ, Abū Bakr ibn Ḥafṣ, Hishām ibn ʿUrwa, ʿIrāq ibn Mālik, Abū al-Aswad, and Tamīm ibn Salama. Also, Abū al-Duḥā narrated it from Masrūq, who narrated from ʿĀʾisha; likewise, al-Qāsim ibn Muḥammad and Abū Salama narrated this hadith from ʿĀʾisha. However, they did not mention ʿĀʾisha's statement: "while I was menstruating."
711 – From ʿĀʾisha (may Allah be pleased with her): In the bed where the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) lay, while ʿĀʾisha was lying crosswise between the qibla and the Messenger of Allah, sleeping, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would perform his night prayer. When he wished to perform the witr prayer, he would wake ʿĀʾisha, and she would also perform the witr prayer.
712 – From ʿĀʾisha (may Allah be pleased with her): ʿĀʾisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: How ugly it is that you liken us women to donkeys and dogs in (invalidating) the prayer. I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performing prayer while I was lying crosswise, sleeping, in front of him. When he wanted to prostrate, he would nudge my leg, and I would draw my leg toward myself. Then he would prostrate. [453]
713 – It is narrated from ʿĀʾisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: My feet would be in front of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) while I was sleeping, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would perform the night prayer. When he wanted to prostrate, he would touch my feet, and I would draw my feet in, and he would then prostrate. [454]
714 – It is narrated from ʿĀʾisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: I would sleep crosswise in the qibla direction of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). While I was in front of him, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would perform prayer. When he wished to perform the witr prayer (ʿUthmān added this), he would nudge me. Then ʿUthmān and Bishr agreed: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would say to ʿĀʾisha (may Allah be pleased with her): "Move aside so that I may perform the witr prayer."
